You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

Shen walked into the cabin with Ceres in his arms. The baby girl seemed curious about her new surroundings. "Well its certainly big enough." Shen whispered as his eyes scanned the cabin's interior while Himiko continued to spray, now inside. She wouldn't be satisfied until she got rid of that 'outdoors' smell. Looking down, Shen stared at Lobo. "You'll have to rub him. I'm not touching him while I'm holding Ceres." Shen stated and walked on. He wasn't trying to sound mean, but for a doctor dogs and newborn babies simply didn't mix. "Shen...!" Himiko groaned. "I'm out of spray...what do I do?" she cried. Shen turned around giving Himiko a 'are you serious' expression. "Himiko...why dont you go find us a room to sleep in?" Shen asked. The blonde cringed. "One bug. I see just one bug and I'm leaving." she warned him. Shen simply nodded. Tho, part him wondered if Himiko thought there was a difference between bugs and outdoor ones.

"He's very well trained. Didnt you notice? Even a smack from you and he didnt even growl" Jake said with a laid back smile. Kathrine patted her thigh and Lobo walked up to her with a long whine, his tail wagging happily. "Okay" Kathrine replied to Shen and slowly walked toward the cabin. Lobo followed at her side, sniffing near her belly, seeming to know not to poke there. Once inside Kathrine sat down in a lazy chair by the window. "God its beautiful out here" She said with a sigh. Lobo looed at Shen and lowered his head looking at him with guilt after being smacked by the man. He laid down and rolled onto his back, offering Shen his belly with a soft whine. "I think you hurt his feelings" Kathrine chuckled

The ride to the cabin...was a long one. Shen didn't say much. Every now and then he and Himko would make small talk. Every now and then Himiko would run her hand along Shen's thigh or back just to send a message to Kate in the back seat. When they finally reached the cabin, Shen opened his door and took in a deep breath. "Finally.." he muttered. Just then, a massive...dog came running up to Kate. Shen freaked at first. His eyes shifted towards Jacob wide eyed. What kind of idiot would raise and keep a wolf? When the beast jumped into the car Shen instantly when into father-bear mode. He gave the wolf a good swat right in the nose. "Keep him away from my daughter." Shen commanded, his voiced laced with the most potent of venoms. "As for you..." Shen sighed as he turned towards Kate. "Remember what the doctor said. You have to take it easy. Why dont you go make yourself comfortable? I'll grab Ceres." Shen stated. Himiko looked around. She was a city girl. The very thought of staying in a cabin made her ill. "What a dump...and whats that smell???" She groaned while covering her nose. "The trees maybe?" Shen smiled. Himiko shook her head. She pulled out a small bottle of disinfectant from her purse and started spraying everywher

Jacob hadnt minded at all when Shen demanded to drive Ceres and Kathrine. If anything he had been completely cool toward Shen, not trying to pick any fights or push things with the man. "Alright, just follow me, its about an hour away but it's a nice drive" He said as he walked toward his car after seeing ate buckled in. He climbed into his jeep and pulled out of the parking lot. Kathrine remained completely oblivious to Shen and Himiko's business. She was rubbing Ceres's hand while she stared out the window...this was awkward...in a car with a man you loved...who didnt love you but was going to care for you until healthy...and his current girl friend... The ride seemed longer than it really was because of that. Jacob finally turned onto a small dirt road that went down about half a mile before maing a right and parked off to the side of a gorgeous cabin with the lake view. Outside was a massive dog, his tail wagging excitedly.

When Kathrine stepped out Lobo ran up to her and nuzzled his giant head against her thighs whimpering and yipping, his whole body shaking with excitement. "My god he's stunning! Is this a wolf!?" Kathrine asked. "Yep, you rescued the big guy when he was just a little pup." Jacob said. Lobo sniffed and jumped into the car in seconds and was sniffing at Ceres. He laid down just as quicly as he had jumped in and rested his head on the baby's legs and didnt move from the back seat. "I brought home one of Ceres's blankets and gave it to him to get her scent. He'll be the perfect guard dog" Jake said. "Fat head, out" Jake called and Lobo got up and jumped out of the car and sat when given a single signal

In all honestly, the cabin was the last place Shen wanted to go. It actually took 'allot' of fussing with Shen before he agreed. Naturally, Himiko would be coming too, but for how long. During the week she had been trying her best to get Shen to commit to moving. Shen kept putting off the discussion tho. Himiko was starting to get the picture. Shen wasn't the type to put things off usually. He insisted that he needed more time, but Himiko was starting to believe that he had already made up his mind. She gave Shen three days. In three days she'd be leaving with or without him. Sighing deeply, Shen stood outside. He had already put Ceres in her car-seat. He insisted driving his baby and her mother. If Jacob had a problem with that...he could shove it. Himiko was sitting in the front seat, her head turned back towards Ceres. What was so special about babies anyway? They were boring...and smelled.

Ceres gurgled up at Shen, her big dark violet hues staring up at him as he spoke. As he tickled her side a big smile appeared on her face with a coo. Her tiny feet kicked as she looked around wide awake, and not as fussy as when she first woke up.

A week later...

The doctor came in for one final check up. "Alright, stitches look good, they will heal very nicely. No sudden movements or long walks. I want you to take it easy as much as possible. I'm sure with Shen there, everything will be just fine until you heal more" The doctor said having been informed more than once that they were not together, but he'd be taking care of her until she was better. "And so...you are free" He said as he signed the release papers. "Thank god!" she said happily as she was helped off the bed by a nurse and sat in a wheel chair. Jacob had brought her some clothes to change into. They were baggy from having been what she wore while she was pregnant. Jake had also insisted they stay at the cabin for a couple days to allow her a little more rest. He claimed there was someone who missed her there too so After some fussing with Shen Kathrine got him to agree

Shen simply nodded. This was classic Kate. She could never accept charity. She always had to do things her way or for herself. It was a trait that Shen found annoying when he had first met Kate. However as time as passed he had grown to love her stubbornness. "Sleep well." Shen whispered as he scooped Ceres into his arms. He didn't want her rolling off the bed. Shen carried her back to her crib and gently laid her down. "Well now that you're up, what shall we do hm?" Shen smiled. He reached down and gently ticked his baby's side with his finger. "Mommy is sleeping and will prolly be out for a while. So...what shall you and I do? Any idea Lady Ceres?"

Kathrine didnt show any confusion as he slipped his hand away. She just smiled. "You dont have to make those promises...once I'm better...I'll find a way to get on my feet" She said and looked at Ceres. "Isnt that right...mama's gonna make everything work" She said with a bright smile and she lightly tickled Ceres's belly making the baby gurgle and coo with a big smile of her own. She leaned over and Kissed Ceres before laying back rubbing the padding of her stitches. "Hnn...I think...I'mma take a nap" She said and lightly yawned

"Well...yes I can but-" Shen whispered, but paused. At last, she had agreed. However, as she began to nuzzle her cheek into his hand Shen's entire body froze. His eyes locked onto hers. He could see the love she felt for him within her violet hues. "Um..well then..." he whispered as he slowly pulled his hand back. "Anyway...j-just leave everything to me ok? You can count on me." Shen smiled. Mentally tho, Shen was cursing himself. Deep down he knew that no matter how much he justified the move, he'd never be able to leave Kate for california. There was no way he'd be able to separate Ceres from Kate. The last time Shen had left, Kate had nearly destroyed herself. Shen feared that even with a broken memory she'd follow the same path or worse. Also...deep down...even if he refused to admit it....on some level he still cared for Kate.

"Yeah but...I can rest at home...I mean your certified to take care of my stitches right?" She sighed with a light pout, laying back as he laid Ceres on the bed for her. Ceres gurgled happily, holding onto Kathrine's finger tightly. Kathrine's violet hues looed up at Shen as his fingers brushed against her cheek. She closed her eyes and leened her cheek into his hand, her free hand cupping his. A soft smile took her lips. "Okay" She said with a soft blush. His hands felt the same...even if two years really did pass...his hands brought the same comfort they did when she met him

Shen shook his head slowly. "Like I said, I want you to recover. I know you dont enjoy being stuck in hospitals, but it cant be helped." Shen replied softly. He decided to lay Ceres down on the bed so Kate wouldn't have to reach so much to touch her. "As for the bill, leave that to me." Shen insisted. It wouldn't take much to put Kate on his insurance, which would cover the bulk of the bill. What the insurance didn't cover shen would just pay out of pocket. "So...I need you to rest ok?" Shen whispered and for the first time since he had Kate had reunited..his voice softened. Shen stretched out his hand and gently ran his finger tips along Kate's cheek and through her brown hair. "You have to rest. Do it for Ceres ok?"

Kathrine smiled as he sat on the edge of the bed. She brought Cere's hand to her lips and kissed it lightly. All her memories of being hurt and hurting him were blank to her....this was how she would have most likley stayed had she not felt betrayed before her memory lost...it was a crash to the system being sent back to her uncles by the man she loved most...and then not hearing from him for a year...no this was the girl who loved him completely. "Weeks?" she asked. "But the longer I stay the more the bill is going to be...I dont like hospitals anyway....can't we go home?" She asked too high to remember at the moment that they werent in her old home town, and that really at this moment...she didnt have a home

"Months??" Shen blinked. Surely...Kate hadn't smoke while she was pregnant. Shen shook his head from the thought. It had to be the morphine. It was making Kate loopy. Shen smiled non the less and sat down by the edge of the bed. "Ceres is fine. She clearly doesn't enjoy being woken up tho. I'll have to make a mental note of that." Shen sighed. Then, Kate said something that surprised. She began to bring up the past and how she was thankful for Shen's aid. It was hard for Shen to accept her gratitude tho. He may have saved her, but he had also hurt her too in the process. "Um...you're welcome." Shen smiled. What else could he say? It wasn't like he could hold a serious conversation with Kate. Sighing, shen leaned in a little bit. "Listen Kate, you dont have to worry about a thing. I want you to rest. If need be we can spend a few more weeks here until you recover fully. Also, later I'll look at your stitches to make sure that they were done properly. I'm guessing the scrub who stitched you up did a rush job."

Kathrine's tired violet hues shifted, having some trouble keeping their full focus on Shen. "Heey...how's my baby girl doing" She said and lifted her arm, taking Ceres's tiny hand and smile as her fingers caressed her baby's tiny little digits. "God....I havent been this high....in months...err...well guess...its been years..." she said and looked around the room again before settling on Shen again. "Shen...? I want to thank you again....you know....for pulling me...away from all that....the life....I was forced to live....' she said softly with the brightest of smiles. "You made me see.....theres so much more to life that it doesnt have to be all bad" She said happily

Shen had tried everything he could think of to get Ceres to stop crying. He offered her a bottle, she rejected it. He even tried making funny faces, but his attempts only seemed to infuriate the baby further. When he was allowed in, Shen quickly walked into Kate's room. It had only been thirty minutes, but shen felt like he had been waiting for hours. When he walked in, Shen's brown eyes came to rest upon Kate. Somehow...she looked weaker than she had just a moment ago. "Kate?" Shen whispered as he walked towards her bed side. His eyes shifted down to Ceres, who seemed to have settled down. "Mommy is ok sweetie. See, she's still in one piece." Shen whispered softly.

Kathrine was gripping the sheets tightly as she cried out while they peeled her blood soaked gown up to examine the ripped stitching. One nurse gave her some morphine to completely knock out the pain she was going through. Roughly 30 minutes passed until they completely finished re-stitching the wound and re wrapped it. Through out the entire 30 minutes Ceres never once d stopped crying, even to Shen's best attempt to calm her down. A nurse came out and said he was allowed back into the room and just warned him not to let her hold ceres until the morphine cleared from her system. In the room Kathrine was humming lightly, completely consumed by the glow of the light in the middle of the room. She didnt say much while drugged just hummed, and her humming managed to sooth Ceres even from the distance as the little girl's crying subsided

Horror filled Shen's eyes as Kate was wheeled back into the room. He stared hard at her wound. It looked like the stitches had come undone. Still, she was bleeding a little too much for comfort. It made shen wonder if the stitches had been done correctly. "Please take care of her." Shen requested as he turned around to scoop Ceres into his arms. The baby girl wouldn't enjoy being woken up, but shen had no choice.

"Keep pressure one it" the nurse said as two more helped Kathrine into a wheel chair. Kathrine winced as tears came to her eyes. God the pain... A few nurse came into the room. "Excuse me sir, We have to ask you to leave for now. You may take Ceres with you" She said. while slowly starting to move the crib and laid Kathrine's bed flat. Kathrine was wheeled into the room and moved onto the bed. "Ow!" She cried. One of the nurses hooked up a blood bag to her. She hadnt lost a dangerous amount of blood but was getting there.

Shen was up by the time the hour had passed. He was hovering over Ceres' crib admiring the baby girl as she slept. "Hm she should be waking up to feed any moment now." Shen thought to himself. His eyes shifted over towards the door. Kate had been gone for about a hour or so. Sighing, Shen's gaze shifted back towards Ceres. He wasn't sure if moving Ceres was the right thing to do or not. More than anything, Ceres needed a mother. However, Shen also needed peace of mind...

Kathrine slowly walked around for roughly a half hour. She was heading back toward the room and stopped to catch her breath. She winced, holding her stomach as she started to walk again. "Out of the way! Move Move!" Some nurses shouter while rushing a gurney down the hall. Kathrine gasped and jumped out of the way, her body jolted as pain rushed through her body. "Hn...." She whimpered lightly. She slid to her knees holding her stomach. her gown slowly turning red. "D-damn....it" She whimpered. "H-Hello!" She yelled, She looked at her hand, shaking as she saw the blood. A nurse rushed over and quickly called for help.

Shen's eye's peeled open, but only slightly. He too, like his daughter, was a light sleeper. He watched the nurse help Kate out of the bed. This was good, she needed the practice. Sighing, Shen closed his eyes. He wasn't sleepy anymore...but closing his eyes somehow helped him think. He felt like apologizing to Kate for yelling, tho not for the things he had said.

An hour or so passed and Kathrine woke up, already on mother alert when a couple hours go by and she's not awaken by Ceres crying. She leaned over and checked the crib and sighed when she saw the baby girl sleeping soundly. She saw Shen napping on the chair, her hues saddened again. She called for a nurse, and asked if it was okay if she could walk a little. Quietly the nurse helped her off the bed without waking Shen. Kathrine winced, holding her wrapped stomach. She left her phone on the bed Before slowly walking out of the room. "Hn.....i-it hurts" She whimpered. "You'll feel a tightness....but we were going to have you start walked today anyway so this is good" She said.

Shen sat quietly. Perhaps...Himiko's offer to go to cali was a blessing. Kate and him had no future. The only thing that concerned Shen was whether or not cali was best for his daughter. Himiko wasn't a mother...not even a pretend one. Ceres needed both a mother and a father, a complete family. Also, Shen wondered if Kate would try and fight for custody. Well...she could try, but it would be useless against the Li family lawyers. However, that wasn't a route that shen wanted to take. Custody cases almost always consisted of mug slinging. Sighing, Shen leaned his head back against his chair and closed his eyes. He needed a nap too.

((Hehe I figured you would catch that X3. I think it would make sense...Himiko wants Shen...calls from his ex would be troublsome so...why not delete them... X3))

Kathrine was still curled up on her side, hugging her phone, but she was fast asleep. All the stress and tears was finally enough to make her pass out. Her face was stained with dry tears. A nurse had turned the light in her room down so she could sleep easier. But now, even asleep she looked somewhat stressed

ooc: She called him??? O.o I can play along, but im curious. Who knows, maybe Himiko can become a greater villain

ic:Shen was gone for a few hours. He had tried finding Himiko but it looked like she had already left...and had taken their rental car too. "Well thats great. Ceres, what do you think that girl is thinking?" Shen asked, tho he didn't expected an answer. Sighing lightly, Shen walked all the way back to Kate's room. He didn't say anything once he arrived. He simply placed Ceres in her crib next to the bed and sat down in his chair.
