You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

Kathrine blinked and Kate sighed. "Mommy promises to be more careful with herself" She said and tickled the baby's belly making her kick and smile widely. Hearing Himiko demand food Kathrine took Ceres and sat her up. The response from Shen was...unexpected...this was his girlfriend after all. She didnt say a word, she doubted Himiko would comply with such an order after being so used to being pampered...

"No buts." Shen frowned. He moved to pick up Ceres and held the baby girl right in front of Kate's face. "Now, promise your first born child that you'll be more careful from now on." Shen smiled. There was no way Kate wouldn't be able to disagree in front of the cutest baby in the world. "Shen? I'm hungry..." came the sound of Himiko's groaning from across the hall. Shen blinked and placed Ceres back on the bed between Kate's legs. "Why is she up?" shen sighed deeply. "Hold on a sec. I'm going to tell her to fix her own food." Shen stated as he rose to his feet. He was actually enjoying playing with Ceres and having Kate present.

"Yeah...I know" She sighed as she looked off to the side. Something she always used to do when he would start lecturing her. "My body's dealt with worse I can..."She trailed off and looked away as the sting of old memories tugged at the back of her head. It had been years since on of her worse beatings...but the memory of it... She moved her hand to her right shoulder blade and rubbed it. Shen had seen all her scars...Her shoulder was one he had treated after her uncle had stabbed her with a broken wine bottle...he had done this before Kate met Shen but it had never healed properly until Shen treated it. Ceres just tilted her head before her hues focused back on the little moving lights on the cealing

Shen examined her stitches. They were holding nicely and would continue as long as Kate took it easy. Nodding, Shen pulled her shirt back down. "Listen." he stated, his eyes on hers. "Even tho you had a C-section its going to take a while for your body to recover. You need to give yourself. That means you need to be cautious with how you move." he informed her. "Do I need to put you on full bed rest...cuz I will." he smiled lightly. His eyes shifted over towards Ceres, who seemed to be enjoying herself. Shen smiled and moved to press his lips against one of her tiny hands. "You look so happy. Just a few hours ago you were screaming your head off missy."

Kate glanced at Shen as he moved closer to her. "I'm fine..." she said as he confirmed her thoughts on his worries for her health. She doubted the second part was true...if anything he was trying to make her feel a little better...truth or not...she wished he'd stop being so nice to her...it didnt hurt as much. She slowly laid down and lifted her shirt only enough to expose her stitches. "See...their fine" She said quietly, wanting to pull her shirt back down, even when she had first met him she was shy about any bruises or scars on her body, now was no different

"Careful." Shen advised. He knew that expression of pain. Shen rose up from the floor and moved close to Kate. "Let me see them." he asked softly. "I know you think that I'm only looking out for you because of Ceres...and...well...maybe to some degree that might be true...but your health is important to me. If it wasn't, I would have left you outside the other day." he stated. "Ceres, tell mommy to stop being reckless." shen smiled. He too couldn't wait for Ceres to become older. He wanted to be able to really talk with her, take her on walks through the park, share ice cream cones, and all sorts of other father-daughter things

Kathrine looked at him, he was so shaken. "Everything's okay..." She said in a rather soothing voice. "Nothing's every going to happen to Ceres" She said as she closed the book. She shook her head. "I'm fine..." She said. She knew he was just taking care of her so she'd be healthy for Ceres... She looked down at Ceres and smiled, leaning down but winced, having leaned to far and make her stitches sting. "Hn..." She groaned. Ceres gurgled and smiled. "Do you like when mommy makes funny noises" She said while ticking her tounge out and blowing a 'raspberry' as the baby making her smile bigger and coo. She couldnt wait till Ceres was bigger to hear her laugh

Shen was visibly shaking. The dream was way too real. There wasn't much that could spark fear within his heart, but the images he had seen...they were just too much. He hoped that the dream wasn't some sort of premonition. Sighing, Shen sat down on the floor. He wiped his forehead and rubbed his eyes. Once he calmed down a bit, he looked back up at Kate. "Are you ready to sleep? You..still look tired."

Kathrine wasnt paying attention to the time. She had decided to do a little ready and was sitting up on the bed and hand laid Ceres between her legs so her head rested against her groin. The baby girl was holding one of Kathrine's hands while staring up at some lights from a baby toy that displayed little stars on the cealing. When Shen came rushing in, Kathrine blinked and watched as he took a knee and kissed Ceres's cheek as she responded with a gurgled coo

Shen had lost track of time. Without realizing it, he had dosed off for a good two hours. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open! His body shut up like a bullet. "Ceres?!" he exclaimed. His eyes darted from left to right. He got up and ran towards Kate room, nearly crashing into the wall as he did so. When shen got to the room his entire body was covered in sweat. He looked as if he were in a state of pure panic. When he saw that Ceres was fine, Shen let out a deep sigh. "Sorry." he whispered. He seemed to be apologizing to Kate allot recently. "I think...I had a bad dream. Ceres...was in some kind of trouble...and I think...I was dead..." Shen replied softly. He walked into the room and took a knee by Kate's bedside side. He leaned down and pressed his lips firmly against Ceres' cheek.

Kathrine closed her eyes as she hummed Ceres fed for awhile before pulling away and yawned. Kate sat her up and started to pat her back, her towel ready for her spit up. "My pretty girl" Kate cooed softly while standing up. she put Ceres on the bed and went into the baby bag, to change her diaper and clothes. Putting her in a pink onesie with white flower designs. "Time for stretches" she said with a big smile while she played with Ceres's legs, bending them up against the little girl's belly and letting her push them out. "My strong girl" Kate smiled and kissed her belly

Himiko was still knocked out. She never woke up before 11 unless she absolutely had to. Shen moved back into the living room. He laid down on the couch and closed his eyes. It wouldn't be much, but Ceres' feeding would allow shen to get a couple minutes of shut eye. He was also sure that Kate would want to hold Ceres for a little bit since the baby had spent her first night away from her mother.

Kathrine took Ceres and kissed her softly. "Ohh mama, is you hungry?" She asked whiled walking heading back toward her room. She wanted to avoid Himiko or Jake seeing her as she was as much as possible for today. she sat down in the lazy chair in her room and Let Ceres settle against her as she started to drink from her breast. she smiled down at the little glutton of a girl and started to hum a slow yet somewhat sad song

Shen turned back in her direction. Her eyes...were so red. Maybe that was why she had refused to look at him. Nodding, Shen placed their screaming child into the hands of her mother. "Sorry." he whispered while turning off the stove. Though, he wasn't sure if he was apologizing for not giving Ceres to her...or for all the crying that Kate had done the night before. Shen stood in the kitchen. He was tired, but now wasn't the time to sleep. "After you're done...I'll take her back so you can get some sleep. I know you need the rest..."

Kathrine fully looked at him. "Shen...I want to feed her" She said her hues were red and tired as she stared stubbornly at him. She knew he wanted Ceres to get used to bottle feeding too but Kathrine felt most calm when she got to nurse her baby girl. It made her think everything would be okay in her messed up life when she was holding her

Shen turned slightly. Part of him wanted say, 'yes please do' however when he noticed that Kate still couldn't look him in the eye...something caused Shen to become a bit more distant. "No. I've got it." he answered while placing the bottle into the pot of boiling water. His eyes shifted down to Ceres who was more or less demanding to be fed. "Shhh I know I know." Shen whispered as he rocked her in his arms. "It wont take long. You'll get plenty." he replied softly.

Kathrine passed out where she had crumbled that night. Lobo periodically would lick her hand and whine then lay his head back down. As Ceres fussed for breafast her whining soon turned into hungry crying. Kathrine slowly blinked. Her eyes red and puffy from crying all night. She lifted her head and ran her hand through her hair. It took her a moment to really wake up as she stood. She walked into the bathroom and splashed some water in her face, and tied her hair back into a messy bun. She walked into the kitchen and held her hands out. "I'll feed her" She said, her head looking away as she glanced toward him. She didnt want him to see just how puffy her eyes were...

Shen had slept in the living room that night with Ceres in his arms. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but he didn't have a choice. Ceres had woken up several times during the night and there was no way Himiko was going to help. It was around 8 in the morning when Ceres woke up again, this time for food. "Hey princess." Shen whispered. He walked sleepily over towards the fridge where there was a bottle waiting. He knew that Ceres hated bottles, but he hoped she'd comply. "Just let me get it nice and warm for you." she whispered. While holding her with one hand, he reached under the sink to pull out a small pot. He filled it half way with warm water and then turned the stove on so the water could boil.

Kathrine's body was beginning to tremble by the time he got to the door. 'Y-yeah" She whimpered as she started to let her body slide down against the wall under she curled herself in the corner. She could barely wait for him to walk out before she silently cried into her arms, muffling her whimpers and sniffled. Lobo licked her hand and whined, laying down against her, his ears down as she cried in her corner

"Yes..of course." Shen whispered as he moved over towards the crib. Somehow, he had managed to scoop Ceres into his arms without waking her. He held the baby tightly in his arms as he moved towards the door, but stopped. "Kate...I'm sorry." he whispered softly. Really, it had never been his intention to bring her tears. Their situation was just too messed up to be fixed in one night. No, it would probably take years for them to fix their relationship...assuming it could be fixed.

"...I think your under estatementing her possessiveness of you" Kathrine said lightly while looing at the ground. "Yeah...I remember her..." She said quietly with a nod. She nodded as he told her to go to his mother if things between them got worse. She didnt say anything else...it had gotten too hard to talk without the urge of wanting to cry. She turned so her back face him while she faced the wall. "Can....you take....Ceres" She whimpered lightly, bringing her hand up to wipe her eyes before any tears managed to fall

"I dont think that will be a problem. I'm sure Himiko will leave for Cali with or without me." Shen explained as he watched her move over towards the wall. He could easily see the pain that she was in. A year or so ago, he would have embraced her until her suffering ceased. Maybe...Shen still wanted to...but he couldn't. "So..it seems like we have an understanding. I wont be going anywhere." he stated as he rose to his feet. "Also...if things get bad between us...just..." he paused. Shen couldn't really ask Kate to force herself to talk to him...especially if the tension between them was high. What they needed was a go between. "You remember my mom right? She loves you..and will absolutely adore Ceres. If things get too bad...go to her. She's always looked at you as a daughter...and you wont have to worry about her betraying any secrets you tell her."

Kathrine winced as he whispered her name and looked away again. Why was he torturing her...she cried on the inside for him to stop feeding her false hope as she looked silently at the ground "I can agree...to those terms....but I dont want Ceres ever left alone with Himiko...at all" She said. She had the right to make her own terms when it came to her child. Before he could say or do anything she stood up and walked over to the wall and just leaned against it. Being so close to him was too hard... She wanted to keep up her strong appearance at least...even though she was failing miserably...she had forgotten how to hide the pain in her eyes when around Shen

"Liz?" Shen blinked. That was a name he hadn't heard in a long time. He sat up, his eyes on Kate. It looked like she could break at any moment. "Well..." he began after a short moment of silence. "Liz never had me. If I recall, she'd flirt but...heh classic me didn't see her actions as flirting." Shen smiled lightly. His eyes trailed over towards Ceres' crib. The baby was out like a light. "Katherine." he whispered, his soft brown eyes now on her. "I wont take Ceres away. However...at the same time I cant erase my own feelings. Maybe...someday...there can be something between us...but for the time being...I'm not sure if such a thing is possible." he replied softly. "But the important thing is that we provide for Ceres. However, there must be rules. First, and I know its selfish, but I dont was Jacob raising Ceres..at all. I dont trust him. Also, you have to swear that you'll never run off with Ceres. If you can do that...I'll swear the same."

Kathrine shook her head as he said he understood. "You....really dont..." She said softly while leaning forward as he leaned back. "It's not...something you can understand...unless you've been through it yourself..." She spoke softly. Her body tensed as he mentioned Himiko. "I...it's none of my business...I know but...I dont like her....she reminds me a lot of Liz...you know...the princibles daughter...she likes to rub it in my face...that....that she has you" she said, her voice trailed off. "It's hard enough....and then to pile that on...its like rubbing salt into an open wound..." she said. Her voice staying low...and shaky. She took a breath as she tried to calm herself down
