You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

Kathrine hadnt recognized Shen at first. She was in 'doctor' mode as she called it when Shen only focused on what needed attention. She lifted his hair a bit to see the gash on his forhead and blinked looking down at him, recognizing him. "......Shen?" She gasped. Everything happened in sow motion. She had turned her when she heard someone call Shen's name. Next she felt her arm being grabbed and pulled into the car as it drove by. When the car jolted Kathrine landed atop Shen momentarily before her hues focused again and she pulled out gauz and tape. She'd have to clean it right later. She lifted his bangs once more and was able to wipe away most of the blood. She pressed the gause to the gash and held it there while wrapping another peice around his head to hold the gauz in place. She kept her head Low, her face was close to Shens as she focused on his head, lightly running her fingers along his scalp feeling for any bumps

Blood continued to trickle down Shen's cheek. He was in shock. There was no way an explosion that big could have been survived. "Revy..." he muttered. His eyes were glued to the smoke cloud so much that he didn't even feel his shoulder being touched. He closed his eyes and gripped his phone tightly between his hands. It was only after Kate repeated herself that he turned around to face her. Shen's eyes flew wide open, his body going through shock all over again. Why was Kate here and in the worst possible place in the world?! Also, she looked older, more mature but just as beautiful. Had she dyed her hair? Shen remembered it being darker. Also, when had she started wearing glasses? Shen was at a complete loss. He couldn't even utter her name. Suddenly, the sounds of gun shots rung out from around the corner. A car came speeding up to the corner pulled up right beside shen nearly running him over. "Shen!" Revy called and opened the door. Dutch and Benny were inside too! There was no time for joy though. Several other cars were speeding down the street all shooting ak-47s. What happened next was too fast even for Shen's eyes. He grabbed Kate by her arm and yanked her body into the car. The moment they were inside Benny mashed the gas sending the car hurling down the street while Revy returned fire from her window.

Upon feeling a shaken rumble eveyone screamed. Kathrine's hues widened as she looked around. "WHat the hell was that" She said as stood up. "It felt like an explosion not too far from here." Ishikawa said as he stood. "Everyone gather and evactuate," He said while taking out his phone and pressed a button. "There will be shuttle busses to take you to a safe area in the front of the hotel" He said and put an arm around Kathrine. "Lets go" He said. Once Kathrine found her friends she headed down stairs with them, however seeing the wounded on the street made her stop in her tracks. "Josh, Jazz, we cant just leave them here" She said. Even though they were all majoring in psyciatric they had also gone through basic medical training. Kathrine ran across the street to look at a women, Ishikawa aided them, helping an elderly man on the other side of the road. Kathrine finsihed with the women and helped two others when she walked up to a large man. She knelt down and put her hand on his shoulder, his back was facing her. "Sir, are you alright?" She asked and started to turn him slowly

ic: Shen suddenly came a stop. The man had ran up to a car and was talking to someone. As he did behind a corner he suddenly felt his phone. Ever since his ringtone had nearly got him and Revy killed on a mission he had made sure to keep it on vibrate. He pulled out of his phone opening it. His brown eyes shot wide open! It was from Kate! Not only that, but she was sending him a txt of them laying in the bed. When he had she taken it? Shen's heart began to crumble. After all this time she was still thinking about him. Was she unable to move on? He had hoped that somehow she'd be able to live a normal life with an open heart. He didn't deserve her love and it was in her best interest not to have his. Shen peeked back around the corner just as the man jumped into the car and took off. The now 27 year old ran after the car but wasn't able to catch up. He whipped out his phone and took a look around. "Hey Dutch, I'm here at some sort of...fancy building, and I mean super fancy. The guy I followed just-" shen stated before a violent explosion went off sending shockwaves through ground. Shen's body was tossed like a rag doll right into a brick wall. "W-What?" he muttered and looked up as blood trickled down the side of his head. The explosion had come from the docks and judging by the smoke that was bellowing up towards the sky it had been a big one..

Kathrine put on her nice suit and put her hair back. Her apperence had matured greatly in the year. Joshua, Jazz and herself were all escorted to a limo, Joshua was wearing a noce suit as well whiel Jazz wore a stunning dress. "It's kinda wierd ya? I mean we come out here to meet this guy...what you think he wanted to meet us fo?" She asked. "I'm not really sure, but I have an idea it has something to do with Kathrine being such a prodigy with everything she tried. Kathrine was busy looking at her phone with sad hues. "Come on gurl, we with ya" Jazz said. "You know your going to have to hide the accent" Josh said. "Shit...I hate coverin my vocals man" She growled. They arrived at the hotel and were escourted to the dining area. "Ahh my friends from New York, welcome, welcome" Rui Ishikawa greeted them with smiles and shook their hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Ishikawa" Jazz said as she bowed her head. Who knew she could sound so proper! Joshua bowed his head and Rui placed both hands on Kathrine's "Ah Miss Burrows, we finally meet, I've read all your reports on your steady recovery from your...unfortunate past, I'm very impressed with your strength" He said. Kathrine bowed her head. "Please, Call me Kathrine" She said with a light smile.

A couple hours passed and they had, had dinner, Jazz and Joshua were mingling with others while Rui had kept Kathrine mostly to himself. "I truely am amazed with your will power... I have never heard of such remarkable progress in a trauma victim, and the fact that you chose this medical profession as a counsler to aid those who have gone through similar things you have... Isnt it hard to have to hear about them from others?" He asked while reaching his arm over and lightly played with her hair. She lightly glared at him. "I think you have had enough wine" She said curtly. Rui smiled and chuckled, pulling his hand back. "Perhaps your right, my apologies" He said

ic: Lagoon Company was officially on their way! While Revy sat below deck sulking, Shen came out letting the salty wind blow through his dark hair. He lit a cigarette and placed it to his lips. Thats right, the health nut was smoking! Allot of things about him had changed, none of which his parents were pleased with. For now though, Shen had found the simplicity he had been seeking, which was odd considering the nature of his job. It didn't take the crew long to reach the secret port and as soon as their contact showed up they began unloading the crates. Around Roanapur weapons carried more value then gold. Everything was going well when something caught Dutch's attention. The old marine eyes narrowed sharply. Some of the crew that belonged to his customer were acting funny. Through his shades, his eyes shifted to all sides. Something didn't smell right. Also, his customer's right hand man had just vanished. "Shen." Dutch called spotting the man calmly, yet swiftly walking away. "Follow him for me will ya?" he asked. Shen blinked, but nodded and got off the boat. He moved to the shadows of the surrounding buildings and only peek out when he was sure that he hadn't been seen. He still had the man he was tailing in his sights and was following him, but not too closely. The hairs on his neck began to rise. Something was definitely up. The man was acting strange and seemed to be a panic to get as far away from the docks as possible

Joshua reached down and snatched Kathrine's phone that she had been staring at. "H-hey, give it back!" She said and reached up for it. Joshua leaned down and she blinked and looked at her phone as he showed her a picture she had uploaded of her and Shen laying in bed together, smiling at one another. "I just sent this one to him...." He said and handed her the phone. "He's....probably changed phones by now...." She muttered... "And even if he didnt... its apparent he....doesnt care about me anymore..." She said and closed the phone. "Come on... we have the dinner to go to" He said and hopped off the swing and looked at her. "If he doesnt come find you..... then its his loss, because some day you will be willing to try and open your heart again." He said. Kathrine got up and walked along side him. "....I highly doubt that...." She whispered to herself and sighed as they went back to the hotel to change. They were meeting a man who donates a great sum to their school every year, it was an honor for them to have been picked, what they didnt know... what that this man's family was a part of the Japanese Shogun...and old and powerful family....

It was just another day in Roanapur, the bloodiest city in the world. The city was constantly under threat from mafia related crimes day and night. All the big names were present from Hotel Moscow, a well organized and military trained Russian mafia, to the Triads, a group who's name had a presence in almost every country. To say the least, Roanapur wasn't the type of city one came to on vacation. The bridge that led into the city was the indication. On one of the beams hanging above the ground lay nooses just waiting to be wrapped around someone's neck. The city was truly a place for the damned, societies cut throats and murderers.

"Everyone here?" Dutch asked as he loaded the last box of ammo. Today their job was to deliver crates of guns and ammunition to a paying customer. Naturally though, there was a little bit more to the mission or else Dutch wouldn't have been involved. "Our ace is ready." shen smiled as he stepped on board with Revy beside him. "Who the fuck is your ace?" she spat while rubbing her baggy eyes. She had only gotten about five hours of sleep after spending a full 24 hour day fighting her way through some rich boy's goon squad. Even her trigger fingers were tired. "Lets just get this over with." she muttered. Benny, the blond american who ran their communications came up to the deck. "Black Lagoon is ready to move out." Dutch nodded, but paused to pull shen aside. "You sure you ok with this? Dont get me wrong, I know you're good for a fight, but what we're doing...its for survival. Our actions might not clash nicely with your own ethics." he told him. Shen smiled, though only slightly. "Its too late for ethics..." he muttered and looked off towards the sea. The water was crystal blue and almost gave off the vibe that Roanapur would be an ok place to live...almost.

Thanks to Joshua's therapy and tactics Kathrine was much stronger then she had been before. She had expected that she had never done anything wrong to deserve the kind of lifestyle she had been forced to grow up with. He had even gone as far to ask a friend of his to put her in a mentally challeging situation where is would have seemed she was going to be raped. Kathrine hadnt known this and without hesitation had broke the poor boys arm. "Hey Joshua, you want to go for a walk with me?" Kathrine asked as she put on her glasses. It wasnt that she needed them, but it seemed to make less men look at her which was the only reason she wore them. Not many guys now a days had a thing for girls with glasses. "Sure, coming" He said and grabbed his jacket. "I cant believe yu started two years after me in school and now I hear your going to be graduating with honors early" Josh said as they walked down the street.

Kathrine shrugged. "I told you, I have a photographic memory, I read something once, and its stuck in there" She said while tapping her head with a smile. They came to a park and Kathrine sat down on a swing. Hey Josh....do you think I'll ever see him again?" She asked. Josh climbled onto her swing, standing behind her while she sat. "I think you should try and call him... even send him a text... you never know... I told you he was a wreck when he found you with us... worried as hell but in a hurry to leave... I'm positive by his body language he didnt want to leave you..." He said. Kathrine's violet hues softened as she looked at the ground... "But.... he never called me" She said. "You never called him..." he pointed out...

ooc: Shen is actually gonna be in south east Thailand in the harbor city of Roanapur. I figure they got to china, but decide to do some island hopping and end up at in the wrong city at an extremely wrong time

ic: Shen had gone through many changes during the time he spent apart from Kate. Everyday he was tormented with urges of wanting to call her. However, not once had she ever called to confirm her condition so he figured she was doing just fine. In addition, his mother had reported that Kate had stopped making withdraws on her account as recent as three months ago. Well, it proably didn't matter. She had always hated using his money. In fact, not even Shen was relying on his family's money anymore. He hadn't touched a cent in about five months which was around the time Genzi and him got into one of their huge fights over his career and what he'd be doing with his life. There many expectations placed on Shen's shoulder. Normally he would have met them all, however after leaving KAte....something changed. He had no regrets. He knew that if he had committed himself to loving her she'd end like Yoko and that was a fate he was not prepared to accept. No, things were better this way and shen was striving for a more..simple way of life.

"Yo Shen we gotta move. Just got a job. Do me a favor and go wake up Revy." Dutch asked. The tall black man had been the one to drive Kate to the airport. What she hadn't known though was that Dutch and his crew had been hired by Mei. The team of mercenaries had worked with Shen years ago and had been all but happy to accept the job..and the money. Sighing deeply, Shen got up off the couch. He had cut of his braid, the symbol for the males in his family and had lost some weight even though he didn't need to. His body was even leaner now and better built. "Revy?" Shen whispered as he peeked into her room. Revy, the duel pistol wearing bitch from hell who had shot Mr. Burrows was notorious for not being a morning person. Shen took in a deep breath and crept into her room. He got five steps in before he had a gun pointed at him. "Oh...its you." Revy groaned in chinese and turned over. The girl never slept in anything but her panties and a black tank top with no bra. She wasn't shy either about being seen in such a way, especially by shen. "Ten more minutes." she wined and turned her back to him. Shen let out a long sigh and sat down on her bedside. "We have a job. Dutch wants everyone up. Benny is already at the boat." he told her and already a cigarette waiting for her lips. Revy sat up. Her poisoned golden hues tilted up to shen taking the cigarette from his lips and into hers. "Why are you coming? Thought you decided to stick to your no killing bullshit of a philosophy." Revy grunted as she took in a long drag from the cigarette. Shen chuickled. "Well If I dont go who's gonna keep you from dying? Think about it. Dutch drives the boat and watches out for everyone. Benny runs communications. You're the muscle, and I'm the one who gets to keep you on a leash."

It took Joshua and Jazz roughly four months to get Kathrine out of her broken state. Like Shen had said, a lot of the time they had to force her to eat something. They wouldnt lie if they were to be asked if they used some of her money to buy better food since all they could afford was ramen but that was about all they used of her money until she flat out offered to pay for the food expenses. She had finally gotten into school, and was quick to excell in her subjects. She had even been hired on at a highschool as a student teacher every once in a while. She had made many friends, men and women, but none had her trust.... yes she trusted Joshua and Jazz but they had helped her so much that she couldnt help but form a type of bond with them. She had never felt uncomfortable with Joshua and it was after six months of knowing him that she found out he was gay. She didnt care, if anything it made her more relaxed around him.

A year had passed and Kathrine hadnt touched the money in her account for the last three months. She had been earning her own money while still in school, when the three of them were offered to go to China to learn about medicine they all jumped at the chance, and had packed their bags and got on the plane. Once they got to the hotel Kathrine looked at her phone... she had made a habit to check it almost every hour... "Still waiting for him sugar?" Jazz asked softly. "I dont understand....the note said...we'd see each other again soon but.... he's never called...." Kathrine said softly. Joshua came up brhind her and hugged her from behind. "I keep telling you to call him..." He said. ".....I...doubt he even remembers me..." She muttered and closed the phone with a sigh

Shen simply shook his head. He didn't have time to explain his situation. If he could have taken Kate with im he would have, but sadly the world wasn't that simple. "Just know that I'm never more then a few hours away. If she calls me and tells me you've hurt her...not even President Obama will have the power to save you." Shen stated in a tone that could have made the strongest of men shiver with fear. Also, be sure that she reads my note. After that...she can do as she pleases, but I'll still honor my promise." he whispered and gave them both a small bow before turning towards the door. Aside from the fact that joshua was a little too friendly with Kate, both him and Jazz seemed like good kids. He'd find out sooner or later he was sure. However, after that night Shen never called Kate and she never called him. All contact ceased. Before Shen knew it a year had already passed and his life had drastically changed...

"Ow! What the fuck!" He hissed and glared at Shen. "Jazz told you I'm already seeing someone you asshole, if your so worried why dont YOU take care of her" He growled and ran his fingers through his hair glaring at Shen. "Your lucky we were the ones who happened upon her, some of the night people at the air port are creeps who would have taken advantage, dont critisize my way of helping her, her mental state is holding together by a thread, either you can shut the fuck up, or do things the way you want" He growled. Jazz ran her hand through her hair. "Joshua major's in mental awareness is abuse and trama victims..." Jazz said. "Shit, thats why we are in schools to become doctors, we want the dough, but we aint gonna take it unless we've earned it mista." Jazz said. "Geez your like some over protective parent or somethin, all the students at this school have had back rund checks and are evaluated before entering anyway, we all good folk here" Jazz said

"thank you" shen replied softly giving them a small bow. However, when he saw josph dare to lay beside Kate his eyes turned dark once more. "Its not him she wants." Shen hissed and walked up to the boy grabbing him by the hair. "Be careful. That will be your one and only warning." Shen told him face to face. He stood up releasing the boy's hair and turned to the female. "Everything she needs...she already hass. Her tution, her clothes, everything. She's already been given the numbers and pin to her account. I trust that I can leave her without having to worry about greed spreading?" he asked, eyeing joshua.

Joshua and Jazz nearly fell over when Shen Barged in. Kathrine turned in her sleep but remained sleeping. "Who are you mista? her relative or somethin? you know she seems really messed up" Jazz said. The both of them looked at one another then back at Shen. "Sure mista. We'll take care of her" Jazz said, showing a bit of her soft side. Joshua yawned and walked back over to the bed and laid down, putting an arm around Kathrine who snuggled up against him in her sleep. "I dont know who you is, but dont get mad, Josh is seeing someone and she's more relaxed when He holds her like that" Jazz said in Josh's defense

Shen walked right past Jazz and Josh. He wasn't in the mood to deal with either of them. His only concern was finding Kate. He looked the entire dorm until he found her, sleeping. Shen rushed over to her side. He checked her vitals and gave her body a once over. All in all, she seemed to be ok. He closed his eyes letting out a very deep sigh of relief. "Thank goodness..." he whispered and rose to his feet, his eyes soften as well as his tone. "I'm sorry." he replied softly, now facing Jazz and Josh. "But her safety is my primary concern. I had to be sure she was ok. Now that I see she is..." shen paused. He took a knee to the floor and placed a note under Kate's blanket. It was a short one. All it said was that he loved and they'd see each other again some day. "Please make sure she uses her money. She's stubborn. Also....can you make sure she eats? She tends to refuse unless you force her."

After another half hour Kathrine had started to nodd off in Josh's arms. He had pulled her into his lap while watching a movie, rubbing her back and doing what he could to get her to relax. By the time Shen had started pounding on the door it was 4am. Joshua and Kathrine were fast asleep. Jazz got up and answered the door. "Do you have any idea what time it is mista" She yawned while scratching her head. Josh woke up and got up, leaving Kathrine asleep. "Who is it?" He yawned

Shen didn't say another word. He waited to hear the sound of Kate's voice but he never did. His eyes suddenly narrowed. From what he could grasp, she had been picked up by two strangers. Then, to make things worse, he heard the annoying sound of the other stranger's voice. Without a word, Shen hung up. He walked right up to the cockpit and ordered him to turn the plane around. Luckily for Shen, he had placed a tracking device on Kate's phone just to be on the safe side. It would only take him about two hours to get back to new york and even less time to track Kate down. When he arrived at the dorm, he knocked rather then breaking the door down like he intended. He was still in the states and didn't want to draw attention to himself. Still, with face Shen was wearing it was a miracle that hadn't been arrested yet. The held the eyes of a killer and a frown to match

"Whoa, chill out man, Me and my room mate found her at the air port when we were getting off our shift. She hasnt said a word, and we didnt want to leave her there alone, hold on I'll try giving her the phone." Josh said in a rather calm voice despite having his ear chewed off. "Katie sweetie, there's someone on the phone for you" He said softly and held it to her ear. Kathrine didnt say a word. "Who the hell does that guy think he is! Shit, we go out of our way to help home girl and he starts roaring at you, Im across the room and I could hear that asshole" Jazz was growling. "Honey, did the jerk off on the phone hurt you? Is that why you aint talkin?" Jazz asked and walked up taking the phone. "Listin mista. I don' appriciate the tone you givin my friend when we go outta our way to help Katie baby. For yo infomation she looks like she nothin but an empty doll, are you the one who made her this way?" Jazz asked. Oh she was all attitude but she was a good person.

Shen paused. He had definitely called the right number, yet some boy was answering the phone. For just a split second, Shen's eyes turned jet black. "who the hell are yoU?" He asked, his voice laced with poison. "Depending on how you answer...I might not be able to guarantee your safety. Where is Kate? put her on the phone at once." shen ordered. From the way he was talking, he was starting to sound alot like his dad. It wasn't anything knew for Mei though so she wasn't surprised. "shen whats going on? Did she make it to new york or not?" she asked while tugging on Shen's sleeve.

While sitting on the end of the bed Kathrine was on Joshua felt a small vibration. He looked at Kathrine. "I think you phone is ringing hon" He said. Kathrine didnt respond. He moved up to her and reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone and flipped it open. "Hello?" He answered. "Who is it?" Jazz asked. "Shhh, I dunno, i assume someone who knows her, be quiet" He hushed Jazz up.

Shen was pacing the floor on his family's private plane. His mother had tried everything to get him to sit down, but he refused to listen. Shen looked at his watch. Kate's plane should have landed by now. He had called her cell 20 times, but she had never answered. He had left voice messages and everything. "What if something went wrong?" he asked. "Shut up and sit." his father ordered with his classic grunt. "No! All I know is that you two hired someone! How do I know the people you hired did their jobs?!" shen yelled. Mei sighed and patted the seat next to her. "Lagoon Company took care of it." she told him. Shen froze in his seat. "You let her near Revy? Are you mad????" Shen blinked, freaking out now. "Watch it. Your mother stuck her neck out for you boy." Genzi growled. "Shen, try calling her again. I'm sure she feels as if she's been thrown away." Mei replied softly. Shen nodded and dialed her number. He could only hope that no one strange or perverted had snatched her up

Kathrine looked at him with empty violet hues. She reached into her pocket pulling out the ticket and paper and looked at it.... she...didnt feel happy.... she reached over and grabbed the envelope the man spoke of without a word and got out of the car when he opened the door for her. "Whats the point...when you cant trust anyone..." She muttered and walked through the doors of the airport, boarded her flight and went to New York.

Upon arrivng Kathrine hadnt gone to claim her bags. She found somewhere quiet and sat down, hugging her knees up against her. Time passed and it was the middle of night when a worker happened upon her. "Hey....girlie, you okay?" A boy asked and knelt in front of her. "Hello?" He said and waved his hand in front of her. "You okay sweetie?" He asked, his voice was soft.... "Joshua, who you hittin' on now boy?" Came a girl's voice. "I'm not hitting on anyone" Joshua said. A tan girl knelt down and snapped her fingers in front of Kathrine's face. "Shit, is she high?" The girl asked. "Not everyone is drug dependant Jazz" Joshua said. "Hey, girl, you alive?" Jazz asked her and shook her. Kathrine's hues shifted and looked at her. Jazz reached into Kathrines pants and took her wallet. "Kathrine Burrows..." She read her ID. "hey this is the girl that nuver came to get her luggage" Jazz said.

Joshua reached under Kathrine and lifted her up into his arms, Kathrine made no attemt to struggle. "You can crash with us until you snap back into it" Jazz said and the two strangers brought Kathrine back to their dorm after retrieving her things. "Shit girl, you got money! look at these clothes!" Jazz said, admiring the outfits Mei had bought her. Kathrine was sitting on the bed staring off into space. "I think she may be on shock..." Joshua said while waving his hand in front of her. "Don't push her... just let her be Josh" Jazz said simply.

"About time you woke up." the man smiled and turned around. They were already at the airport. All of Kate's bags had been unloaded too which contained everything from Shen's apartment. "You're at the airport. In your pocket is a plane ticket to new york. You're also carrying papers stating that your uncle has released you from his custody and is no longer your guardian. Oh, grab that brown envelope to your left. Inside is enough money to pay for your first month of food. More more will be wired to your account later. The numbers and pin for the account are in there too." he explained and got out of the taxi to open the door for her. "Enjoy your life. Those are the word's I've been asked to give you."

"Mmm you sure did." the girl purred as he pounced on him and straddled his waist with her legs. "But I still wanna kill you. Its ok right? You wont be missed. No, even if you are missed its still fine, right?" he smirked and shoved one of her pistols into her mouth. She leaned forward till their nose's touched. Her finger tensed around the trigger. Suddenly, her phone rang. The girl pouted and sat up straight. "What?" she hissed. As she had her conversation she moved the gun inside Burrow's mouth from left to right, letting him get a good taste of the stainless steel. "Pfft." she groaned and hung up. Her golden eyes hit burrows like a bullet. "Cant kill you. What a shame." she sighed and got up. She was about to walk out when she suddenly turned around. "However...I need insurance that you stay here like a good fat dumb fuck." Suddenly, a wicked smile formed on her lips. She pointed her Cutlass at Burrows...BANG!

Kathrine was almost like a doll. She stood up when forced and stumbled outside and just stood there. She didnt respond to the man who walked up to her asking her about caling a taxi. She slid into the car as he lead her to it and stared out the window absently. It wasnt until an hour later that she spoke. "Where....are you taking me?" She asked, her voice quiet. She had been abandoned.... forced back into the house that she never wanted to step foot in again....the one place on earth....she had told Shen she never wanted to go back to.... He had betrayed her....lied to her...the whole time....but....why did she still love him. Tears came to her eyes and slid down her cheeks, but even still she didnt move.
