You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

When she walked in Benny's blue eyes brightened. Even Dutch had to take off his shades. Revy rolled her eyes and took in a long drag of her cigarette. "You fools act like you aint never seen a woman before." she growled. "Well no offense, but Kate doesn't smell like gun powder." Benny smirked and looked at Kate shooting her a wink. Revy's right eye twitched. "Should I kill you for that?" she asked. Shen remained silent, though he did eye Kate's clothes. He noticed how the curves of her body had changed. She really had become more mature, though some aspects of her remained the same. Leaning forward, he put out his cigarette. "You weren't done." Revy blinked. Shen looked up nodding. "Its bad manners to smoke in front of someone who doesn't." he stated. Revy's eyes nearly popped out of her head. She turned to Kate and blew smoke in her face...again. "Problem barbie?" she smirked, darling Kate to say something

Kathrine looked to the door as Benny called in to her. "Thanks Benny" She replied and. She finished washing and stepped out, opening the door a bit and grabbed the clothes. She slid the jeans were a tad tighter then she liked but she wasnt going to be picky. She put her bra and tank top on, rolling her damaged clothes into a pile and picked them up. Her curves had become much more pronounced. She walked into the kitchen and threw her clothes into the garbage and helped herself to a bit of breakfast.

By morning Dutch and Benny were already up. Soon a car would be on the way to pick them all up. As kate showered, a strong knock came from the door. "Hey Kate its Benny. I've got some fresh clothes for you. I dont know your size...but I figure you can be too far off from Revy." he stated. "I'll leave them in front of the door for you." he stated and walked away. The clothes he had brought were simple, just some jeans, though her tank top would show off her belly and from Shen's perspective might be considered too short. Meanwhile, Shen and Revy were eating breakfast. He couldn't move much, but at least he was able to stand. They sat at the table, both enjoying a cigarette. Actually, everyone was smoking and it was pretty early in the morning.

Of course she wanted him to fight.... but that didnt mean she was just going to forgive him instantly. He'd probably have to put up with a lit of attitude from her before she even was willing to have a normal conversation with him. When the sun rose up Kathrine's violet hues opened once more. She stood up and stretched before walking to the bathroom. She looked down at her clothes and sighed lightly before stripping and hopped into the semi warm shower to wash the sweat off her body

Shen became silent after that last outburst. He sighed and leaned his head back against the couch. "You say you want me to fight...but you get pissed when I do. What the hell do you want?" Shen thought to himself. Maybe she just wanted him to take her in his arms and kiss her. No, Shen couldn't imagine that working especially if she wasn't even willing to talk to him and had made it clear she didn't want to be touched already. After about 30 minutes he finally dozed off, though slept lightly. The floor wasn't comfortable and he couldn't exactly get up to find a bed or ask Kate to share the couch.

"I helped teach in a highschool" She said curtly. She was getting annoyed at his pushing to keep the conversation going. "Sure, surprised, whatever you say" She growled and finally sat up. "Enough, I dont care! what you do now is entriely your business," She said. After that she mostly ignored whatever else he said, tuning him out and finally managed t doze back to sleep

"What about your job as a teacher? You said that it board you..were you teaching younger children?" Shen asked. He could feel the frustration in her voice, but pushed on anyway. They hadn't talked for a year and even if it was small talk he wanted to start making up for it. Looking down, his traced his finger tips over his bandages. "I you're surprised to see me in a place like this. To be honest, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I couldn't go back to teaching...not after seeing to corruption in your school. Father wanted to me to start taking my role in the company seriously. But I had no desire to follow the path he had crafted for me, at least not yet. Thats when I received a call from Dutch that he needed some help. One of his men, a japanese coded named Rock had died. Ah...but dont mention that name to Revy. She's...still sore about it. I think she and Rock were getting close, really close."

"I already told you, i take online classes, any teachers that do meet me are a pain in the ass, and my work is my business" She growled lightly. She ran her fingers through her lighter brown hair hair before becoming still again. She closed her eyes as she let out another light yawn, her phone buzzed and she flipped it open reading the text message from josh. She started to write a reply and flipped her phone closed again

"oh..well thats unfortunate." Shen replied softly, his eyes on her back. When she told him go to sleep, he shook his head and sat up some more. He couldnt stand yet, but he could scoot a bit and moved until he was able to lean back against the couch. Right now, he just wanted to be near her. "No can do. I'm wide awake." he smiled and tilted his head back. "Kate, tell me about your classes. What are your professors like? I want to know what kind of work you've been doing."

Kathrine flinched, hearing Shen speak to her. She crossed her arms and shut her eyes wanting to block him out. "They arent my friends....we just help each other out because it's convieniant" She said, keeping her back to him. It was true, they always referred to her as their friend... she couldnt accept the word.... it had only been a year since everything had happened. It was true she had become stronger in some aspects... however she still didnt put her trust into anyone, even the people who helped her so much. They knew and understood her form of thinking, that didnt mean they would just give up on her either. "Go back to sleep..." She muttered

Shen's eyes snapped open. He looked around, hearing what sounded like Jazz's voice coming from the couch. He sat up the best he could, his brown eyes focusing on the couch through the darkness. "Your friends.." he whispered, knowing full well that Kate was awake. "They must really care for you." Shen smiled softly. "You know, I remember a time when you making friends was impossible. I had always hoped that one day you'd be able to have some."

Kathrine ignored his goodnight and shut her eyes, falling sleep after about 20 minutes. She blinked as he awoke to her phone vibrating at 5:38 in the morning. "Hello...." SHe groaned sleepily. "Are you okay!" Jazz's voice rang which made her sit up instantly. "Hn... I told you I was fine..." She yawned while rubbing her eyes. "Jazz what are you even doing up this early" She mumbled. "They evactuating the town, me and Joshua was put on a plane back to the states, we tried to refuse and shit but they pulled guns on our asses" She yelled into the phone. "keep it down!" She growled. "Listen, I told you before I'm fine... you cant keep calling randomly okay, I already told you it may be a while before I can make it home" she said. The conversation went on for about another 30 minutes before she was able to hang up. She yawned and laid back down, now fully awake

Shen flinched. The last thing he had expected was for her to strike the ground..and with such force. However, as she walked away he now knew what she wanted, what her heart desired. "You're stupid too...I'm not a mind reader." he muttered while she was in the bathroom. Had he known for sure that she still cared and wasn't treating him out of pity, of course he would have fought for her. Now he knew that and his heart was filled with determination to make up for what he had done to her. "Kate." he whispered, his eyes on her back. "Good night." he replied softly. Tonight he had done and said enough, but tomorrow would be a new day. He'd start making it up to her. He'd fight for her forgiveness. He just had to be sure that he could earn before he sent her back, though with the way things were right now shen didn't see Kate being able to return for at least a week or two, maybe three depending on how bad things got. Everything was out of his control. Only the mafia bosses could decide how badly the city would burn.

"Stupid" she growled as he confirmed that she wasnt. She didnt acknowlage him as he tugged on her skirt. "I told you to stop saying that!" she growled and turned, slamming her fist into the ground. "Stop saying that when your not even going to fight to prove it" She growled and got up, rubbing her hand. She walked to the bathroom and shut the door, locking it. She rubbed her hand and turned the water on running it under the cold water before splashing her face. "Everyone lies...he's no exception...." She told her self over and over. She walked out of the bathroom and sat on the couch with her back facing him... now she wished she had let Revy show her to that room....

"Wait..so you're not?" Shen blinked. Suddenly he felt a massive wave of relief wash over his body. The down side to his relief was that she seemed to be even more pissed off then before...if they was possible. Looking up at her back, he reached up gently tugging on what was left of her skirt. "Hey.." he whispered. "That...came out wrong. I should have thought the question over. I'm sorry. I know I'm an ass...and I know you're pissed at me. I just..wanted to know. I told you that Is till love you. Whether you believe me or not that wont change Kate." shen whispered and released his hold on her clothes.

Kathrine's violet hues narrowed as he brushed her off. She moved to get up when he suddenly asked her such a random thing. "So one minute your going to be an ass then you want to ask me something personal?" She growled at him. "How the hell should I know. I told you, he took interest in my progress and work, today was the first time I've met him at all" She said as she leaned back against the wall. "You can be a real ass sometimes you know that, what the hell makes you think I'm going to randomly open up to anyone ever again" She growled and turned her back to him. "Ignore me for a year then has the nerve to ask about my social life...." She growled, barely loud enough for him to hear

"I'm fine..stop." he told her and turned on his good side. "Just...stop. You've done enough." Replied in a tone that was filled with distance. However, it didn't last long. Soon shen turned back to lay on his back, his head facing her. "What kind of man is this Ishikawa?" he randomly blurted out. "Yes..I was listening..sorry." shen mumbled and looked off to the side. "Does he...is he good to you at least?" he asked and closed his eyes for a moment. Shen wasn't even sure if he wanted an answer to his questions.

Kathrine looked at Shen when she walked back in. "Are you feeling okay? You look a little sick" She commented while pressing her forehead against his own, closing her eyes. "You dont have a fever...." she commented and sat back up. "How's your stomach... maybe its not accepting the curry" she said while running her fingers lightly against his abs, checking for any irregularities.

Shen couldn't help but listen to her phone call. When was done his head turned towards the wall. He went over the name in his head, but it didn't ring a bell. "I wonder if thats the man she was talking about.." he thought to himself. "I wonder if they've gone out at all..." he thought again, but figured that she wouldn't be adding san to his name if that was the case...unless...they were being private about their relationship. Just the thought made Shen want to puke. He had a grim expression on his face when Kate finally came back. Now, he was staring up at the ceiling. He should have been happy. He should have been pleased that she had moved on but inside Shen felt bitter. He couldn't deal with the thought that somewhere Kate was being kissed and held by another man..and accepting his advances.

"Sure" She replied and stood up, walking back to the kitchen and washed the bowl. Her phone started to vibrate and she flipped it open without checking figuring it was Josh or Jazz. "I told you I'm fine" she said and blinked. "Thank god, Your friends said you had called but I wasnt going to rest until I heard your voice!" Ishikawa said over the phone. "Ah Ishikawa-san, yes I'm sorry, I'm really okay" She said as she turned off the water and dried the bowl and spoon. "Where are you, I'll send someone to pick you up right away!" He said. "No, thats not possible for now." She said and leaned against the counter. "I'm in...good hands, I'll be home when the time is right" She said. "No one has tried anything with you right? Remember their names and faces, I'll have them all arrested!" He growled. "No no, It's fine Ishikawa-san, I swear, i"m perfectly safe" She said. "Call me if you get into any trouble!" He demanded. "Okay okay...." She said..."Bye" And hung up the phone... now she'd have that wierdo calling her all the time... what were her friends thinking giving him her number...

"Right.." shen muttered taking the spoonful, but as done after that. He was getting the hint that even talking normally was out of the question. He closed his eyes swallowing his food before reopening them. "I'm sorry. I never intended to cause you such pain. Believe that..if you refuse to believe anything else." Shen replied softly and turned his gaze away from her. He had said what he needed to and so had she. What was left? He still loved her and something told him that maybe..just maybe she still loved him. Right now that loved seemed out of reach.

"Lay down" she said firmly and continued to feed him. As he started conversation she shrugged. "I dont know... I dont go to the classes, I mostly do everything online.... the professors keep asking me to come in and learn but I just fall asleep" She muttered. Some habits didnt die... "I assist at some highschools now and then as a teachers assistant but I get board with it" She said as she fed him another spoonful of curry "Yeah....I get that alot" She said passivly

"Take my advice seriously." he told her. Dutch wasn't trying to scare her, but perhaps fear was exactly what she needed. Back in the room, Shen was wide awake, though his eyes were closed. When Kate got back tried sitting up. "I can use my good arm to feed myself. You've done enough for me." he replied softly. Unfortunately, it hurt to sit up and even his good arm was feeling the pain from when he had forced himself to his feet. Left with no other option, he laid back and parted his lips allowing to feed him for now. "Tell me..about the campus. I check it out when we were..together. It suppose to the best in the country, yet very competitive." Shen stated trying to establish conversation. He couldn't just eat in silence. "You've exceeded my expectations kate."

"Cool" She said and walked over to the stove to heat it. She pulled her hair out of the bun it was in and let it fall down to her lower back, shaking her head to shake it out. She had started getting a headache from it. She stirred the curry as he spoke. "I told you thats fine... I understand it'll take some time, I dont expect you to put everything on hold to take care of me..." She said and looked to him as he started giving her advice. She bowed her head in thanks. "Dually noted" She said and put the warmed curry in a bowl. "I'll lay low and keep my mouth shut" She repeated to show she had been listening as she walked out and sat down by Shen once again and scooped up some of the curry and blew on it softly before carefully feeding it to him

"Go for it. Benny made extra so Shen would have some when he woke up anyway." Dutch stated. He was leaning back against his seat contemplating on whether or not he should feel Kate in. "Listen..I know Shen whats you back in the states. I'll do whatever I can to help, but for the moment you getting home is the least of my concerns. Someone tried to kill my company, my workers, and my partners. That wouldn't be so bad if it was just that, but they also hit two of the biggest and baddest mafia groups in the city. Tomorrow two cars from Hotel Moscow will come to pick us up. We'll be taken directly to their boss. You'll have to come too I'm afraid." Dutch sided and pressed his head against the table. "One word of advice. Stay back, shut up, and let us do the talking. As far you're concerned, you dont exist. Dont even look their boss in the eye. The dragon lady rules with an iron fist and she's 50 times worse then what Revy will ever be. With a single order she could have you raped and then executed...and no one, not even shen, would be able to do a thing about it. She sits at the very top of the pecking order in this city although technically she's equal with the other big name bosses from other mafia's. This city is her play ground. Just keep that in mind when we see her tomorrow."
