You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

"...are you hungry?" She asked while looking down at her feet again. "You need to eat something, I'll go see if there's any left overs..." She said and got up, She completely ignored Revy as she walked by, as if she wasnt even there. She walked into the kitchen and looked around finding a small container of the left over curry. She looked at Dutch, "Can I heat this up for Shen or was this left for Benny, you or Revy?" She asked looking to the black man with a totally straight face. Any normal girl from college would have been freaking out and crying wanting to go home, but she was acting like this had been her every day life with them.... sorta

"Well...she has. When she was only seven she shot and killed both her parents, an American and a chinese woman. She never told me why, but I do know she's spent all of her life growing up in the gutter, societies trash can." he replied softly. He watched her for a moment before closing his eyes again. Shen was ready to give up because he believed that any future they could have was impossible. He believed that he caused her too much pain. He was the one person who she could trust and he had betrayed her even though it was for her own good. What he didn't know was that Dutch had been sitting in the kitchen watching the whole thing play out. His shifted his gaze over to Revy, though it was covered by his shades. "You should leave her alone. You know what she's been through. That girl is no barbie." he told her. "Dont care." Revy spat as she grabbed a beer from the ice box. She walked back into the room and towards the back as if nothing had happened, or more as if she didn't care that she had just shot Kate, twice.

"Dont bother.... I'm sure she's had a fucked up life too if she's like that" Kathrine said passivly, as if having been shot at wasnt a big thing. She looked at him as he complimented her on becoming so strong. She focused on his stitches pulling the aid kit back into her lap and started to clean and re stitch what had torn. "I already told you, I worked my ass off to get where I am" She muttered, flinching as his hand touched her cheek. She looked down at him before closing the med kit and pulled away. She wasnt surprised he was going to give up so easily.... she had already prepared for heartbreak....she had gone through it already.... no matter how sorry he said he was, she wasnt going to just forgive him... he'd have to fight like hell if he wanted her to forgive him, but he was already throwing in the towel so she just ignored it. "Don't move anymore" She said and sat back against the wall again and crossed her arms and legs, not bothering to tend to her cheek or re opened wound on her arm

"KAte.." Shen whispered. Once he was back on the floor his hand gripped hers tightly. "I'm sorry about her. I'll talk to her later. I'll keep her away from you." he whispered, though in the end had a small smile on his face. "You've become so strong. The old you..I doubt you would have been able to even look a person like Revy in the eye." Shen whispered. His soft brown eyes had returned to normal too. "You've matured..and.." he paused and reached up to lightly stroke her cheek with one of his fingers. "You're even more beautiful then I remember." he stated with a pained smile. Getting up was probably the worst thing he could of done and his body was paying him back. "But..I suppose none of that matters." shen sighed and pulled his hand back. He closed his eyes allowing to her redo his stitching.

Kathrine barely flinched when the first bullet nicked her cheek. She glared at Revy again and crossed her arms. "A bitch who needs to bark and howl to make sure she has all attention on her at all time, yeah I'm so jealous of you" She said with complete sarcasm. When the second bullet hit her arm where she had been shot before she winced and grabbed her arm, but returned her glare once again. "So the alpha bitch feels threatened by a little girl, how pathetic" She said and blinked when Shen forced himself up. As Revy walked past her and into the kitchen Kathrine's glare turned to Shen. "Lay back down" She said, despite her hardened hues, her voice was more gentle as she forced him to lay back down and started to check on his stitches

Revy's head shot up. Oh, Kate had over stepped big time. Suddenly, Shen's board gaze turned into one of a panic. "Revy dont!" he he yelled, but was clocked again with her gun. The girl stood up, her golden hues bearing down on Kate. She raised one of her guns at Kate and pulled the trigger. BANG! A bullet whizzed right past Kate's cheek nicking it. "Dont fuck wit me barbie." she spat and pulled the trigger again. This time, she aimed for where Kate had been shot. The bullet only graved her arm, but the impact would be enough to cause a considerable amount of pain. "You're in a lair of wolves of bitch and I'm the alpha." Revy stated as a psychotic grin formed on her lips. She was about shoot Kate again when all of a sudden Shen forced himself up. He held his side, panting as his stitches began to tear. "I swear to christ Revy.." Shen growled. Suddenly, his eyes turned jet black. They became like rapid swirls of darkness, almost identical to Revy's. "You pull that trigger again and I'll take you down." Shen spat. Revy wheeled herself around. She stared shen in the eyes for about two minutes before she holstered her gun. "Now thats the shen I know." she smirked and turned moving past Kate to head to the kitchen.

Hearing the commotion Kathrine got up and walked back into the room. She let out a sigh. "Is that seriously your answer for everything? Shoving a gun in their face and killing them" She said knowing that the guns were probably going to go from him to her in a second flat. "Look, I dont care what you two are fighting about, just do us all a favor and wait until he is fully healed until you go and start beating on him" She said, standing her ground against Revy, probably too bold of a move. She doubted Revy ever had to deal with another women challenging her while she had guns shoved in their face, but she had gone through much worse shit that to be afraid of dying from being shot.

Revy and Shen had gotten to a heated fight by the time her call ended. Revy was headstrong and probably the most stubborn person shen had ever met. The fight had got so heated that she had a gun pointed to his head, her answer for everything. Shen stared up at her without fear even though he knew the chances of him getting shot by here were about 50/50. "Put that down." he growled. Revy smacked him in the face with the butt of her gun and pressed the barrel into his cheek. "Stupid fuck!" she hissed down at her while her free hand gripped the collar of his shirt. "Do you even know why you were shot? It was because you were so busy thinking of that brat!" she screamed, which got Benny up from his good night sleep. He walked into the kitchen seeing Kate. "Oh god.." he muttered and turned on his heels walking in the opposite direction back to his room.

Kathrine wasnt listening she had sat at the small table in the kitchen and laid her head on the table. "Ugh..." She sighed and pulled out her phone to go through her texts. Jazz and Joshua had been texting her up a storm. She dialed Josh's number with a light sigh. "Where the hell are you baby girl!" Josh yelled over the phone. "Is that Katie baby!?" She heard Jazz in the back ground. "I'm fine you two... I'm safe... I'm not sure when I'll be able to get home, but I'm okay" She said. "Your not being hurt are you!? Remember, your stronger then them, its not your fault" Josh said, trying to calm his voice. "No, no, it's nothing like that, no one kidnapped me...well....not really..." She said with a sigh. "I'm sorry to worry you two so much. "I swear I'm all right... I'll try and get back to you two as soon as I can, I swear it" she said with a soft smile. "Kate, don't hang up! Jazz yelled. "I have to go for now, I'll call you again as soon as I can" she said. "Beat any creepy fuckers to a pulp sugar baby!!! Give em hell!" Jazz said before she closed her phone and sighed again

"KAte..I" Shen began put paused. He needed to let her speak, to let he convey her feelings. It seemed that the decision shen had made was the wrong one. He closed his eyes tightly after she left. Part of him was tempted to go after her, but that would only make things worse. "Whats with all the scream?" Revy groaned while rubbing her eyes. She had a little drool on the corner of her lip. Shen looked up seeing her and smiled, though only very slightly. "I'm alive and we were talking." he told her. "Oh." Revy snorted and moved to sit down by his side. "Dont get involved with her." she told him and didn't care if Kate could hear her or not. "You were like a clean dagger when we first met. I remember well. It was in Iran wasn't it? The sandy winds were blowing everywhere and you stood there like a pillar of stone. It made me shiver." she whispered and pulled out a cigarette. She and Shen had a custom. Whenever one of them would wake up they feed a cigarette to eachother by the lips. Pulling back, she lit it for him and leaned back against the wall. "Yoko destroyed you. She turned you soft." Revy growled. "That brat will do the same." she stated. Shen frowned. "Dont speak ill of the dead." he told her, his eyes narrowing sharply. "And you dont know a damn thing about Kate..or what she's been through."

Finally Kathrine looked at Shen but it was a glare. "Do you realize it took me nearly 5 months to even start talking again! All that time I was holding onto the hope that you would call me, I needed you, not some strangers you placed me with. Second, how the hell do you gather that I was better off without you when I told you, you were the only one I ever trusted or respected. And finally, I'm not Yoko! Stop comparing me to her because I'm not and never will be her!" She yelled, tears in her eyes and threatening to fall. "When you never called I was afraid you had come to hate me, that you regretted ever being with me, when I realized that I stopped using the money because I hated the thought of being given money out of pity for hurting me, dont say you love me after leaving me like you did....Joshua....is the one who sent that stupid text message.... he wanted to find out once and for all if you had forgotten....." she muttered, doubting he would have replied even if they hadnt bumped into one another. "Excuse me" She said and got up. "I need some air, dont even think about moving" she ordered him and walked out, leaning against the wall. She had really only walked into the kitchen. She rubbed her templed with a sigh

"I know Kate..I know..." shen whispered. It hurt that she was being so cold, that he couldn't even touch her. But, then again, he had caused her allot of pain so maybe it was all justified. "Well for starters, my mother didn't tell me anything about what she was planning. She wanted me to have plausible denibility just in case. I know it was wrong, but I had asked you to trust me the day before. When you reached new york I was on a plane, but got worried when you never called. As you know, I showed up at your friend's place and gave you that note. At the time...I hadn't made up my mind yet." Shen whispered and took a moment to clear his throat. "I love you Kate. I realized it long before I told you face to face. While I was happy...I wasn't suppose to fall in love with another girl. At first, I thought that I needed to save you, to make up for not being able to save Yoko. Then I realized that if I did stay with you, if I loved you every bit as much as I wanted to....you'd end up the same way she had. I wanted to protect, but from afar. I know its not fair and I know you hate me, but believe me when I say I did it for you. I still thought about you every day. As weeks turned months tho...and you never called...I assumed that I had made the right choice, that you were better off. My mother called me about three months ago and told me you had stopped using the money. That told me that you were taking care of yourself." he stated, still looking up into her eyes even if she refused his glance. "And then today..you sent me that picture...and everything I did was thrown into question. I thought you didn't need me. I thought..you were better off..."

"What..." She said as he gave her a weird face. She rolled her eyes and shook her head. She pulled her knee away and turned her head away from him. "I'm not just talking about that... I barely remember what happened after you said you were sending me back home... What I'm talking about was leaving me a note, claiming that you loved me and that we'd see one another again soon, only to have months go by, checking my phone every hour of the day and getting nothing. Jazz and Joshua had to go though a lot of shit with me, but they stayed with me through it all....that....it was suppose to be you....." She muttered, her voice softer at the last part before she closed her eyes and shook her head. "Whatever... say what you want to say" she said, shoing no interest in it really.... wasnt like it was going to matter, but if it made him drop it then she'd listen

"Kate if you'll just allow me to explain." Shen stated, but paused suddenly. He looked up at her giving her a O.O face. "He's gay? Wow..." Shen blinked. He wished he had known that a year ago. It would have saved him from all the sleepness nights he had experienced wondering if the boy was taking advantage of kate or not. Shaking his head, he put those thoughts side. "You're right." he replied softly, his soft brown eyes still staring up at her. "I lied to you. I betrayed you too." he admitted and reached out running his finger tips over her knee. "But it was all for your safety Kate. Trust me, the last thing I wanted was to part from you. The last thing I wanted was to tell you that you had to go back home. Please, allow me to explain from the beginning. Here me out and after that...you wont have to speak to me ever again. I'll get you out of this city somehow and we can go our separate ways."

She closed her eyes, not even looking at him. "I don't.... its not going to change anything" She muttered, opening her hues, but was looking down at her bare feet, she had taken her shoes off since they were heels and left them behind, they were unfit for what they had gone through. "The fact is you left.... despite why the reason was, you lied to me.... you betrayed me.... I've had to work my ass off to get where I am and I'm still messed up because of you. The only guy I can trust now is Joshua and that's only because he's Gay" She growled and pulled out her phone, turning it on to see how many texts she may have gotten by now from them

"I understand." Shen whispered. He noticed how highly she was speaking of this man, how she defended him. It made him wonder if she had opened her heart to someone else. "Do you want to hear it?" he asked her, his eyes still on her even though she had looked away. "My reason for leaving, for never visiting or calling. I dont expect you to forgive me, honestly I dont think I deserve it. But, I do need you to understand. I need you to understand why I did what I did...and maybe perhaps why I'm here right now."

Kathrine clenched her hands but sat down, crossing her legs and arms, looking down at him with hard hues. She wasnt going to forgive him... he didnt deserve it after how much he had hurt her.... He had been the only one...the first and only person in the world she had trusted.... and he left her...with nothing but an empty note... "He doesnt live here, he was on his way Back to Japan and didnt have time to come to the states so he asked if we could meet him here, all expenses pain so we agreed" She said. "He's a business man from Japan who's been generously donating large sums to the school.... I couldnt just refuse, it would have been rude and given the school a bad image" She muttered while looking off to the side.

"No wait." he called and reached out grabbing her foot. "Please..just sit down." he requested. His eyes moving her body. Shen laid still letting a shallow breath. "I'm alive and I'm sure I'll recover. Though, my chest kinda hurts." he stated. His voice was soft and half way strained from the blood he had coughed up. "I'm sorry." he whispered, his eyes still closed. "I shouldn't have yelled at you when I did. I..I was just so shocked to see you. I was happy..but then it sunk in, the amount of danger you were in." he replied softly. Shen opened his eyes and stared up at her. It really looked like she had become even more of a beauty and stronger too. "Kate..this is a demon city. Someone like you who has clean hands shouldn't be here. As soon as I'm able to move I'll do everything I can to get you out. I dont know about this..guy you were meeting, but no one who lives here is involved in anything clean."

As the hours passed Kathrine dozed off, but awoke easily to sound and would looked Shen over. She was napping again when she flinched feeling someone touching her. She opened her hues and looked to Shen seeing he was awake. "You feeling okay?, dont get up, you need to keep still as much as possible" She said as she stood up While standing she gave him the perfect view up her torn tank top, showing a see through black bra, her stocking her all torn up as well from running and sliding on the ground so much, it made her look like a bad girl from the wrong side of town. "If your hungry I'll see if Benny has any curry left" she said after checking his bandages once more and turned to walk toward the kitchen

"Whatever" Revy sighed and stepped into the back. She knew Shen would be fine. He had been through too much shit to die now. Besides, he didn't deserve to die here, not in a city like this. He was better then that. The next half hour rolled by slowly. Shen showed no signs of improvement, yet his condition did remain stable. Another two hours passed by before he began to stir. His light brown eyes slowly peeled open. His vision was blurry at first. He reached to his side, feeling the bandages. They were nice and tight, but not too tight. Kate had learned well. He looked over to side seeing that she was still there and his eyes softened. "I'm so sorry.." he whispered, mainly to himself though. He reached out with his good arm and lightly traced his fingers over her hand

"No need, I'll sleep here" She said looking at Dutch before he left and then Revy. "No thanks" She said again as she sat down, leaning against the wall. She crossed her legs and tilted her head back, closing her eyes. "She wanted to make sure Shen was going to pull through the last half hour, after that she was sure he'd pull through just fine... hopefully he'd leave her alone once he was better. Sure she had missed him, but after being yelled at by him she had recalled how angry she had been with him over the last year for never even contacting her.

The room was pretty quiet. The news Dutch had just given was definitely a mood killer. Right now all they could do was wait. After everyone finished eating dinner, Dutch stood up. "I have a few more calls to make. Revy, show Katherine where she can sleep." he ordered. Benny got up too. He had dishes to wash. Once the boys were gone Revy stood up glaring at Kate. She muttered something in chinese before blowing a long puff of smoke from her cigarette into Kate's face. "Come on." she grunted. She tossed her beer can into the trash and stopped for a second to look shen over.

Kathrine looked up as Benny came back out. She leaned over grabbing the plate. "Thanks" She said and took a bite, showing no dis taste to it. Sure she had gotten used to better food, but nothing was as bad as when she lived with her uncle. "He's okay for now, another half hour to go before I can be sure He'll be okay" she said. When he came back out and handed her a beer she thanked him again and popped the top. She was a college student of 19, of course she drank even though she wasnt old enough. She stayed out of the conversation, she wasnt a part of it for the most part

About thirty minutes later Benny came back into the room with a few plates of curry. He placed one of the floor near Kate and handed Revy her's. "Shen still knocked out?" he asked and gave gun a ssmall pushed with his foot. "Oh well. He'll wake up sooner or later." Benny stated walked back to grab a couple of beers. He tossed one to Revy and walked over handing Kate one before he took a seat to start eating. A few minutes later Dutch walked in and plopped down next to REvy. "That bad?" Benny asked. "Hotel Moscow got hit too. So did the Triads." he muttered. Benny's face went pale. "Who the hell would be stupid enough to do that? Better yet, who would have the resources to pull it off?" he asked. Dutch slowly shook his head. "Dont know, but the 'Dragon Lady' is pissed off. The whole city gonna burn before the night's over. We'll stay here for a few days until things cool down."

"Thanks Benny," she said with a light smile before he walked out. She ran her fingers through her hair before looking up at Revy as she spoke. "I don't know, You'll have to ask him when he wakes up" She shot back. While Revy hunted through Shen's pockets Kate walked to the bathroom now that it wasnt being blocked by the crazed gun women. She splashed some water in her face, and tended to her arm a bit better, tying the scrap of cloth around it once more. She washed her hands and walked back out, taking the spot against the wall next to Shen with crossed arms and closed her eyes
