You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

Shen nodded. He took the camcorder and moved back to his seat in the corner. He watched closely as Ceres was born. She was bloody mess, but she was his. As promised, Shen cut off the video soon after. He'd perhaps watch the rest later. Shen turned the camcorder off. He sat back in his chair, his head tilted up towards the ceiling. He felt...a large range of feelings. He was happy that the birth had been filmed, but he also felt bitter rage towards Kate for not allowing him to apart of it. He could see? At the very least she could have called him as she grew closer to the end of her pregnancy. Yes, she had given birth earlier than expected, but that wasn't an excuse..not in Shen's eyes.

"Sure" She said and handed him the camcorder. "Oh, I saw it, Jake showed it to me to prove I had given birth." She said and glanced off to the side. She didnt like the ending of it. "Y-you go ahead...but...turn it off after the part where I name her" She said. When Jake had been pushed out, the camcorder had landed on a nearby tray, recording her....well her death all 6 minutes of them trying to revive her and their success...

Shen had remained seated while holding Ceres. There was little to no conversation until Jake arrived. Shen acknowledged him with a glance...but that was it. Once Jake had left, Shen rose to his feet and placed Ceres down on the bed between Kate's legs. "Can I see the camcorder?" Shen asked. He wanted to watch the birth, or as much as Jake had filmed. "Would you...like to watch? I'm sure that you dont remember it."

Kathrine wanted nothing more than to be with Shen....in all truth it was him who was making things awkward...the way he acted toward her and bringing Himiko with him... Kathrine had called a nurse for a pump and was busy getting milk for tonights feeding for Ceres. Some time passed. Kathrine had happily eaten some of the fresh fruit and bread Shen had brought. She thanked him with a smile. Another hour or so passed and Jacob knocked before walking in. "Hey, got your text" He said with a smile while also setting a container of grapes on her side table. "Here you go" He said, handing Kathrine the photo's and the camcorder the video was on. "Its un-edited so everything is on there" He said. "Thanks Jake." She said. "How you feeling? You look tired" He said. "Hm, yeah tired, but I'm alright" She said. Jake gave Shen a nod. "Well, If thats all, I guess I'll go, dont hesitate to call" He said and headed out

Shen nodded and walked over to the bed. He gently picked Ceres up and cradled her in his arms. Silently, he walked over to a near by chair and sat down. "She's so small." he thought to himself while gently rocking his daughter back and forth. How long could this last? Could Shen and Kate really keep their 'relationship' alive for Ceres if they couldn't even talk to one another? Shen had his doubts, he'd do everything he could to make things work...somehow.

Ceres spat up and Kathrine cleaned her off quickly. She sat in silence....unsure of what to really talk about either. She laid Ceres in the bed between her legs, playing with her feet. "I'm alright...I'm already awake anyway" She said and she lifted Ceres. "But you can still hold her if you want. I can ask the nurse for a breast pump so I can start getting some milk ready for tonight" She said

"I see..." Was all Shen could say. For the next few minutes silence filled the room. Shen stood with his back to the wall, his eyes on Ceres as usual. There was nothing to talk about and nothing he felt the need to discuss. After maybe 30 minutes, Shen pushed himself off the wall. "Would you like me to take her out so you could get some sleep in?" he asked. Really, he just needed an excuse to leave the room. The silence was killing him.

"Heh, well I was never one to be spoiled. I prefer to live simple if I can, so spoiling her wont be an issue" She said. "At least with me" She re commented knowing she'd have no control over Mei. Kathrine shifted Ceres as she finished and started to pat her back. "Hn...tired...happy....confused more than anything. It's weird to wake up and find out two years has gone by and I cant remember anything past the other day...when your parents had visited." She said. "I can't complain though... all in all I'm healthy....I have an adorable daughter" She commented

"You have no idea..." Shen sighed. "Trust me, Ceres will have everything she needs. However, I dont want her to become spoiled. I wont allow her to grow up like some of the rich little brat. She needs to appreciate the things she has." Shen stated. It would be a challenge getting Mei to hold back. "So...h-how are you feeling now?" Shen asked while shifting his gaze off to the side again. He hadn't asked her how she was doing since...never. His first concern upon entering the hospital was taking Ceres away.

"Heh I see...I suppose I can expect a mountain of baby clothes and toys then" She said. Mei was....a bit crazy when it came to shopping. She could only imagine how nuts she'd go when she was buying for a baby girl. "I'll text Jake later and ask him to drop the pictures and video off for you" She said lightly. Jacob had recorded everything himself. There was actually only one picture of him holding Ceres, the rest were of Ceres herself really

Shen let out a sigh of relief. He may have missed the birth but at least he'd be able to see it. Tho...the thought of Jacob being present in the photos instead of him vexed him..and it showed. "I see. You'll need to get those from him then" He replied softly. He turned and leaned back against the wall. He decided to move their small talk along. "Mother is...mother. She hasn't changed since you last saw her. She'll freak when she finds out that she's finally a grandmother. Tho, I'm sure she'll be very upset with me." Shen sighed. He lowered his head. He had no idea how he was going to explain himself. His mother was a nut when it came to children.

"How is your mom? I suppose its been a while since I've seen her" She said looking up at him. She blinked when he asked about Ceres's birth being caught on film or pictures. "Um..I know Jacob was talking about how he had recorded a good portion of it all. He took some photos with him phone too" She said, remembering how Jake had shown her the video to prove she had given birth. Even then she had been weary of him. "He said he was pushed out when my heart gave out though" She said

Shen closed his eyes. There were a few options. They could always give Ceres the same middle name of his mother...or maybe her mother. Still, Shen wanted something more original even if it went against Chinese tradition in general. "Let me think. I'm sure I'll come up with something good." he stated while opening his eyes. "IF only my mom was here...she's great at stuff like this." Shen replied softly. Then, his eyes widened a bit. "Oh...I forgot to call her. Well...she might take it...better if we show up with Ceres in person. We'll need to take some photos of Ceres while we're here tho..." Shen stated. His eyes suddenly shifted to the side. He rose to his feet as his body stiffened. "Hey...by chance...was Ceres' birth filmed? Were there any pictures or...anything taken of her?"

"Ceres Victoria Li...." She said, sounding out the name. "It does sound strong, I'll let you decide. You said I chose her first name right? I want you to chose her middle name" She said with a soft smile. His thoughts were right though....it wasnt like they could just sit and talk about Ceres forever...and Kathrine wasnt sure what to talk about really

"Well, seeing as she has a doctor for a father I'm sure she'll be a very fit child. The best thing to combat...chunkiness..." Shen stated, but paused to hold back his laughter. "Is to allow a child to run and play outside often. The ones kept inside glued to the tv are the ones who never get enough exercise." Shen smiled and gave Ceres another poke, just for fun. His moods were going to take some time to get use to. Naturally, shen wasn't doing it on purpose. He felt overwhelming happiness when he was around his daughter...however every now and then his old feelings of bitterness towards Katherine manifested in how he spoke to her. She had no idea how much strength it was taking to remain in the same room as her. "So..." Shen mumbled as he sat back. Could they really spend all their time talking about Ceres? Shen searched his brain for something, anything to talk about but came up with nothing. "Um...she needs a middle name dont you think? Victoria sounds strong...but I dont think she's a Victoria type."

"A-ah no...I..." She looked down. "I...didnt mean it like that....I know....your going to be a fantastic father....I-I'm sorry..." She said, taken back by his sudden coldness again. She didnt know how to address him when he was like that. Just a day ago she remember him all smiles yet serious about her studies and now....everything was so different. She wasnt sure how she was suppose to act toward him when he was like that. Ceres groaned, her tiny hand pushing at Shen's finger to leave her alone. "It'll be funny to watch her walk off all the chunkyness" She chuckled softly

"Make no mistake." Shen stated, his face hardening for a moment. "I will never be too busy to tend to Ceres. She means everything to me." Shen stated and relaxed a little once he had made himself clear. "Besides...I couldn't call myself a real father unless I participated in nightly feedings." he smiled. He leaned forward a little watching Ceres suckle. "God she's really downing it. I estimate her weight will more than double in two weeks time. Hehe, you're gonna be a chunky baby." Shen laughed while gently poking one of Ceres' cheeks.

"Yeah...but it's totally worth it in the long run" She said with a soft smile. She seemed more than thrilled to be a mother. "Are you sure? You dont have to" She said looking at him. "I-I mean...If your too busy....You dont..." She said. She wanted to cause him the least amount of trouble as possible. Ceres took a moment to sigh before continued to guzzle down Kathrine's milk. Kathrine ran her fingers lightly through her small fuzzy hair

"Well, thats what babies do. They sleep, eat, and poop. That wont change much unfortunately." Shen smiled. He handed Ceres over to her mother before sitting back. As Kate lowered her gown, Shen strangely did not turn away. For one, nothing she had was new to him. Second, he was more so focused on Ceres than Kate's breasts..no matter how much larger they were now that she was a mother. His eyes shifted up towards her own as she apologized. It caught him...off guard to say the least. "I've been here for a few minutes, took Ceres for a walk around the hospital." he stated and shifted his gaze back down to his baby. "Tonight I can help with her feedings. If you'll pump some milk I can feed her when she wakes up late in the night."

Upon being woken up Kathrine groaned lightly. "Hn...thats all her royal highness wants....food food food" She yawned and sat up, rubbing her eyes. Kathrine looked exhausted. Not that hospital food was very good in the first place. "Hn..come here baby girl" She said as she took Ceres from Shen and cradled her, moving her gown down, exposing her swollen breast as Ceres started to drink from her. 'Hn...morning" She said while looking at Shen sleepily. "Have you been here long? Sorry I wasnt awake" She said

Shen should have known better than to walk Ceres around without an ID bracelet. However, he had become so entranced by his new baby girl that it had slipped his mind. He was happy tho. If the staff were bold enough to stop him it meant that they could be trusted to do their jobs. Once shen had gotten the whole situation under control he began walking back to Kate's room. "I know I know. Its time to feed the beast huh?" Shen smiled. "You know, if you were older I'd take you to a restaurant or something. I guess your mother will have to do tho...at least until your teeth start coming in." Shen chuckled. When he got back to the room, he sat down on Kate's bedside and shook her gently. "You awake Kate? Her royal highness Princess Ceres Victoria Li IV demands to be fed."

Ceres gurgled as Shen lidted her. the infantfar too tiny to lift her own head yet. She rubbed her face against her fathers broad shoulder, making soft coos and gurgled soundswhile he walked around with her. Shen was stopped several times, for not having an ID bracelet to prove Ceres was his. Kathrines doctor had been paged, and recognizing Shen as soon as he saw him, He ordered an ID bracelet to be made. The nurse put it around his wrist. "There, dont take this off until you guys go home, otherwise people with think your kidnapping" She said with a smile. Ceres soon after began to fuss and cry, hungry and wanting her meal

Shen walked in just in time to hear Kate talking in her sleep. He placed the bread he had brought onto her night stand. From the sounds of it, she was dreaming about finishing the prepwork that was suppose to get her into med-school. Maybe...maybe she really did still love him. Just then, shen closed his eyes and firmly shook his head. He refused to be trapped by the connivance of the situation. Kate and him simply did not belong together. History had proven that much. Sighing, Shen walked over to his daughter's crib. He picked her up and gently placed her head on his shoulder while he rubbed her back. Kate was still knocked out. Shen was sure that Ceres had woken up at least twice during the night or more. All babies did. "Why dont we go for some fresh air hm?" Shen smiled and placed a soft kiss on his daughter's cheek. He wouldn't be able to put off Ceres' feeding for long, but he could at least give Kate a few more minutes of sleep.

Kathrine was fast asleep when Shen dropped by. Ceres was in the hospital infant bed next to her bed sleeping soundly as well. Kathrine was muttering softly in her sleep. "I...know.....I'll....finish....."She muttered and turned, wincing and shifting back onto her back. The IV prevented her from sleeping on her side like she wanted. "Shen...." She sighed softly. Ceres cooed and started to fuss. The little girls eyes opened as her tiny hand rubbed at her face

Shen left and didn't return until early next morning. He night with Himiko was...awkward. She was distant, as if she were critically thinking...which was strange. Even stranger, she insisted that Shen go back to the hospital as early as possible. Shen knew her. There was no way that she'd be that understanding. It made him wonder what was going on and what she wasn't telling him. Sighing softly, Shen walked into Kate's room. He was carrying fresh bread and some fruit in a basket. The bread had been baked that very morning so it was still hot.
