You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

Kathrine's body tensed as Shen gave his threats of not leaving through the door. She shut off the water and wrapped a towel around herself. She threw the door open walked over to the desk and grabbed the sandwich, shoving a large bite into her mouth and walked back into the bathroom and slammed the door. It took her a few minutes to finish eating it before she turned the water back on and got back into the shower

Shen watched her storm off. He grabbed the plate and placed it back on the desk. "Well...I suppose this could be going worse. All she's doing is running from me..." he thought to himself. After taking a moment to cool down, Shen walked up to the door and knocked. "Kate you can avoid me all you want. You can scream whatever you want. You can even call the cops if you wish. I'll defeat them easily. The fact is that you're not doing a lick of work until you eat and take a moment to rest. I came here to check on the condition of your health, which is deteriorating. If you really want me to leave. Just eat the fucking sandwich. Until you do I'm staying right here, in your room, in your face."

Kathrine had nearly fallen out of her chair when he pulled it back and stood between her and her work. She glared up at him. 'Get out" She growled, her hues narrowed as she glared up at him. She got up and put the sandwich on her seat, walking into her bathroom and slammed the door. She undressed herself and turned on the hot water of the shower and stepped under its spray, trying to rinse off all her tension

"Perhaps I didn't make myself clear..." Shen growled. He already knew how stubborn Kate could be. Now, she was being even more hardheaded then usual. He pulled her chair back, closed her book, and stood right in front of her computer screen. "Eat if you want to work." he demanded and shoved the plate into her lap. Sure, this wasn't how he had planned their conversation...but if he was ever going to get the chance to really talk to her he'd have to show her he cared. Her health made for a good starting point.

Kathrine pulled her chin away as he made her look up at him. She started typing out an essay on her computer, pausing now and then to look up something new then continued. When Shen walked in and set the sandwich in front of her. She glared up at him and moved the plate to the side. "I'll do my work how I want" She growled. In truth this is how she did her work when she had first come to the school, after Shen abandoned her. If he didnt care enough then, why the hell should he bother caring now

Shen let out a long sigh. He gave the device he had wrapped around her arm a few pumps before he paused to read the dial. She'd feel the strap tightening around her wrist, but only for a moment. "I just wanted to let you know." Shen replied softly. "Your blood pressure is low. Have you been eating. Nevermind that, have you been sleeping at all?" Shen asked as he undid the strap and took a deep look into her eyes. "Katherine..I know you have a goal, but your body wont last if at the very least you dont rest." Shen stated. He rose to his feet and walked out for a few minutes. When he came back, he had a sandwich for her, Ham and Cheese. "Now you have a choice. You can eat this and take a break, or I can stay here ALL day and hinder your work." Shen stated, his tone firm. He walked right up to her desk and placed the plate ontop of her book. "Your choice."

Kathring ignored him as he knelt beside her, At first she pulled her arm away when he grabbed her and turned a page in her book before allowing him to take her blood pressure. As he spoke she typed on her computer. "...La...dee....fucking....da" She said slowly and irritably

Shen took her leaving the door open as a sign for him to enter. He walked inside towards her room and placed the medkit down on her bed. "This will only take a second." he whispered. "First I'm going to test your blood pressure." he stated, figuring that she'd have a fit if he tried touching her without letting her know first. He took a knee in front of her desk and wrapped one of her arms in a leather strap. "I found an apartment. My roommate...well...is a girl, 21 I think. Is that ok?" Shen asked. "I found out that she works as a nurse. She said that she may be able to get me a job at her hospital."

Her hues narrowed as he told her that Josh and Jazz had told her about her drinking binges.... "I dont need your help, I can take care of myself!" She growled and turned, walking back toward her room but had left the door open to him to do what he wanted. She sat at her desk and continued to flip through medical books, typing on her computer and sipping at her energy drink

Shen was about to knock again. When Kate opened the door, the first thing he noticed was how tired she seemed. All that was quickly replaced by rage however. "Can I come in?" he asked softly. "I'm not here to talk. I just want to check up on you. Josh and Jazz told me everything. They told about the booze and how you went out of your way to hurt yourself. I'm not here to judge...I just want to check on you, take your blood pressure...stuff like that." he explained and held up his medkit. He could tell from the dark rings around her eyes that she hadn't gotten much sleep. She looked thin too...thinner than what was normal for her. "please Kate..."

Kathrine had in all honesty forgot how many days had past and the time he stated. When she heard the knocking she assumed Jazz forgot something and didnt want to dig for her keys. She got up, she was waring a too big of a t shirt and had her hair pulled back into a pony tail. She had even gotten a new pair of glasses to wear. When she opened the door her tired expression became a tense one and her hues narrowed as she glared at Shen

A very long and messy three days later, Shen returned to Kate's doorstep as promised. He was on time to boot. The other day he had texted her his address but she hadn't replied. He wasn't sure if Kate had blocked his number or just wasn't answering. The doctor took in a deep breath as he knocked on the door. At the very least, he wanted to know how Kate was doing. Shen feared both the mental and physical condition of her body. "Come on Kate...answer the door. I know you're there..." he thought to himself. "Perhaps I shouldn't have told her the exact time I'd be coming over..."

Over the next three days, Kathrine had buried herself in work. Barely eating or sleeping as she forced herself to catch up on everything she had missed and trying to get herself ahead so she wouldnt have to worry about falling behind again. She walked into the kitchen and grabbed an energy drink Jazz looked at her from the table. "You seriously need to rest, look at you your a mess" She said. "Dont care" She said as she headed back towards her room. Jazz sighed, she had to head out to class, but she was worried about leaving Kathrine alone. She finally headed out while Kathrine emerssed herself in books

To Shen's surprise, his room was actually clean. He walked, his jaw dropping. "We share a bathroom." the girl yawned as she leaned against the doorway. "Rent is 600 a month plus electric and water. We get free cable tho." she stated. Shen turned around. 600 wasn't too bad. He'd be able to pay for maybe the next three months. After that...well...he'd need to find a job. "Um..are you..uh..ok...you know...with having a guy for a roommate?" he asked. The girl blinked. She gaze Shen a once over and cocked her head slightly to the right. "You're gay right? My ad said that you had to be gay if you were a guy." she stated. Shen's eyes went wide. He hadn't read anything like that! Panic was written all across his face. The girl covered her mouth trying to contain her laughter. "I'm joking. No I dont care if you're gay or straight. As long as you dont peek on me while I'm showering everything will be fine." she smirked and walked up to Shen running her pointer finger down his chest. "Tho...maybe if you play your cards right...you know..do a little cleaning...maybe a little cooking...I just might reconsider. My name's Himeko by the way." she stated and flashed a wide seductive smile. Shen's face was voice of emotion however. "So in other words....she wants me to be her maid..." he thought to himself. He hung his head. The gods must have been testing him.

The night passed quickly, too quickly for Kathrine's liking, cause now she had to go home and deal with her pushy room mates. As she walked in Joshua was talking to Jacob in the kitchen. Jacob looked up and walked up. "My baby girl!" He said and pulled her into a tight hug. "Hm.....I've missed seeing you around here!" He said, playing along as if this was the first she'd seen of him since she got back. "Hey" She greeted in a short response. "Sorry, I have work to catch up on" She said as she walked into her room and started to hit the books, using her laptop to see what assinments she had missed, messaging the teachers she'd be sending everything in within the next day

Shen covered his nose. How the girl was able to freely walk around without fainting he had no idea. "Um...is this...normal?" he asked. The girl walked into the kitchen past several bags of trash, some of which were torn allowing god knows what to ooze out the sides. "I'm not good at cleaning or cooking." she yawned. That much was evident. There were old pizza boxes everywhere. "So.." the girl yawned again. She pulled out a carton of milk and downed what was left. Shen considered asking how old the milk was, but resisted. "Can you room with me? Its too expansive by myself and my old roommate left without a word." She pouted. "Uh huh...." Shen blinked, tho in all honestly wasn't the least bit surprised. He moved over towards the wall finding the light switch. With the light on, the apartment looked ten times worst...if that was possible. "Can I see my room?" he asked. The blonde nodded and tossed her empty carton of milk into the floor. She walked past Shen, her hips naturally swaying from side to side. She was probably the only pleasant smiling thing in the entire apartment. As they got to the door, Shen felt his heart race. He was scared! Who knew what was waiting for him behind the door to his room. Strangely, Shen didn't feel too uncomfortable seeing his new roommate walk around in her underwear. Then again, he was clueless so maybe he just didn't know any better.

Even so...I think he deserves it all....we both know...her routine anyway" Jazz muttered. "I give it a month this time..." She said. Joshua sighed. "I suppose we should get rid of all the liquor" He said as he got up and walked into the kitchen to start preparing for Kathrine's cycle of coping. Meanwhile she was at work, running the bar and a couple of tables, falling right back into a working habit

Shen took in a deep breath. This was it. If the situation didn't work out he'd suck up his pride and call his mother. "Ok.." Shen breathed and knocked on the door. He waited for about 2 minutes before he knocked again. "Huh?" Shen blinked, wondering if he had somehow got the numbers mixed up. That was unlikely tho. He excelled in math and science. He may not have had a photographic memory, but there was no way he'd mix up a few numbers. He pulled his phone out confirming the address and decided to knock again, but harder. "~C-Coming~" the sound of a soft, yet half asleep voice from the other side. The door opened. Standing in the doorway was a girl in her early twenties although she looked much younger. She had natural blonde hair, large sea blue eyes, and fair skin. What shen noticed however was that she had answered the door wearing nothing but bright pink panties and a bra that just barely contained her C-cupped breast. "Uh...I think...I have the wrong...room..." Shen blinked. The young girl rubbed her eyes. Her hair, which came to her mid back was a mess. "Are you the one who applied to my roommate add?" she asked sleepily. Before Shen could answer, she fully opened the door and turned around allowing him entry. Shen looked around. Was she really going to let a complete stranger in?? "Um..excuse me.." Shen muttered as he entered. The living room was poorly lit. However Shen didn't need light to catch the scent of molding dishes and trash bags sitting all over the living room..

While Kathrine started to work, Joshua and Jazz were sitting in the living room talking. "Its for the better, he isnt any good for her" Jazz said. "He wasnt...no.....but what ever happened in China...I think he's gotten a clear vision of what he did...that he messed up what was more important. You saw how much he was trying with her while she was during her reset....if you had taken the time to really pay attention...you would have noticed he was still broken.... that he didnt deserve a 2nd chance," He sighed

Shen had indeed made his choice. However, that didn't mean he cared for Kate any less. He had just...lost sight of his priorities. Yoko had made up his entire world. Sighing, Shen dismissed his thoughts, for now. He'd have plenty of time to kick himself in the ass. Once the bus ride was over, Shen pulled out his phone to examine the address. It didn't take him too long to find the location of the apartment. All in all, it didn't look that bad. There was a little trash covering part of the sidewalk and a few cans were over flowing, but Shen could live with all of that. The young doctor took in a deep breath and walked inside and up to the 4th floor. He stopped in front of room 478. He wondered what kind of roommate he'd be dealing with...

Kathrine walked into the Bar & Grill and actually didnt have to plead as much as she had though. Apparently Joshua had called them letting them know she had been offered a longer stay in China and would be back soon hopefully to continue work and they didnt seem to mind at all. Probably because she was so efficient in her work and could do almost every job in the place, when someone else called in sick. She walked behind the bar, despite not being old enough, she was allowed to bar tend after she had signed a waver saying if ever caught drinking or serving to minors she would be terminated from employment. As she started to stock and prep the bar her mind replayed the detailed events of China. What the hell did he have left to say to her, he had made his choice to live under Yoko's dead shadow

Shen hadn't noticed her either. Shortly after Kate had passed the bus rolled in and Shen rose to his feet. He carried his stuff inside and took a seat near the back. Driving, it would take 30 minutes to reach the apartment but on the city bus the trip was more so around 40-45 minutes long. Shen sat quietly in his seat, his head leaning up against the cool glass window of his seat. "I was such a fool to think I had been given a second chance..." he muttered, his eyes closing. He pondered if coming back after three days would produce any kind of positive result. No...he couldn't think like that. He had to stick with what he had told Kate no matter how much she hated him.

"No, I have a lot of catching up to do" She said as she changed into a pair of nice jeans and a fitted gray sweatshirt. She brushed her hair and put put it up into a messy bun. She looked around her her glasses and remembered that they had broke while in China. "Damnitt" She growled as she threw on her coat. She grabbed her wallet and keys and headed out the door, putting on a pair of gloves and a hat before she walked out of the apartment. She'd have to apologize to her part time job at the bar for missing so much work and hope they would take her back. She walked down the street, far to focused on getting to the bar to notice she walked by Shen at the bus stop

Shen was sitting at the buss stop. He was debating calling his mother and asking if she could have their house unlocked. It was snowing a little harder now. Since Shen didn't have a coat his body was covered in a later of the frozen water. His inner doctor told him to find somewhere warm to wait, but the other half of him just didn't care. His brown eyes, which had been so bright and filled with happiness just the other day were almost void of life. Just then, he got a text message on his phone. Someone had replied to his application for a roommate. The apartment was 30 minutes away and the roommate wanted to meet Shen whenever he had some free time. Currently, that was all that Shen had. "Katherine..." Shen whispered as he stuffed his hands into his pockets. He had only just realized that they were going numb from the cold.

It took Jazz and Josh a couple hours to get Kate to calm down enough to explain what all had happened since she got back from China. Jazz was sitting next to her, she had torn up all the new images of her and Shen, Joshua had managed to grab the memory card with the images and hide it before Kate got to them. "....I need to get back to work" She muttered as she got up. "I have to call Mr Shigure too..." She said while she started to go through her clothes. She had started building up her solid walls once again. "Hon, you need to rest" Jazz said
