You Can't Save Me ((Yugo,Mature))

Shen stared up into her eyes. He honestly didn't think what he said would be enough to make her cry. But then, he hadn't been thinking at all when he told her to be quiet. "Kate.." he whispered and reached out. He pulled her into his lap. There was plenty of room so they wouldn't feel squished. He gently pressed his lips against her cheek. He brought his left hand up to gently wipe away her remaining tears. "Kate please dont cry. I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean it..I swear."

Kathrine was still worried. It felt like he was ignoring her all over again. As he told her to be quiet she flinched. She pulled her hand away and before he told her, she pulled the car off over to the side. She was about to get out of the car when his hands grabbed her. She looked down her shoulders trembling as she tried hard not to cry. "Its not true..." She whimpered. "You have changed...alot...and thats good" She whimpered while wiping her tears with her free hand

"I'm thinking.." Shen replied quietly. Now, he was becoming a little annoyed. All he wanted was a little silence, a little time to reflect on how he could change, but she refused to drop the subject. "Just...be quiet." Shen frowned as his head turned towards the window. His request had came out colder than what he had intended, and he realized it. "Look..stop the car. Pull over." Shen told her. Once they stopped, he to fully face Kate. He gently took her hands in his and kissed them. "Listen...I guess...I just thought I had changed. Now that I realize I haven't..its freaking me out. I mean, how can I be a good father, how can I protect Ceres if I cant even notice men eyeing you. You were right...I cant be counted on...not in that area." he replied softly, his hands holding hers tightly. "I'm sorry. I'm sure...after how I treated you before...me being distant is probably the worst thing I can do to you."

Kathrine glanced at him then back on the road. "Then why arent you talking...I'm really sorry for what I said" She said softly. She hated him being distant..in the past to weeks he had been normal with her...when he was distant like this...it scared her, she thought he was losing interest in her again. She held his hand tightly while focusing on the road

"I'm not mad." Shen replied softly. He held her hand, but he was still being distant, miles away. "I suppose...there really is a need for counseling. We need it.." he whispered, tho now he wondered if he needed more work than her. He sighed softly and closed his eyes. The air field was about thirty minutes away. Since he wasn't talking, the ride was going to be a long one.

As Shen stayed quiet for most of the ride Kathrine felt worse for saying what she said. She reached over with her right hand and grabbed his while keeping her eyes on the road. "I'm sorry Shen...I didnt mean to make you mad" She said softly while entwining her fingers with his.

Shen's eyes shot wide open. Mike was doing it too? When? He hadn't noticed at all. Shen's eyes slowly closed. He took in her words. She was right. Basically, it boiled down to him not being dependable. He nodded silently. There wasn't much he could say. He might have been a good father, but he sucked at being a lover. What hurt worse was that Shen had thought he had changed. For the remainder of the ride, Shen stayed quiet. The directions were in the gps, so all Kate had to do was follow them.

Kathrine looked at Shen with a 'are you serious' look. "Shen...that kid driver oggles me and you dont do anything about it...what makes you think I'd expect you to do something about strangers doing the same thing?" She asked. She didnt mean it to sound mean, but it kinda came out that way. "Sorry...that sounded worse then it was suppose to" She said

Shen was both surprised..and confused. "Wait..were there people staring at you??" Shen blinked. He looked forward towards the restaurant. He needed to pay closer attention. "I'm..sorry.." he whispered softly, his head hanging. "You shouldn't have to tell me when you're being eyed up..."

Kathrine sighed. "Okay..." She said and started the car. "I just wanted to make sure, now I wont feel bad for glaring back at those perverts" She said with more confidants as she looked back and slowly backed out from their parking spot. She shifted into drive and followed Shen's directions to the air port where there plain was. She had taken the news rather easy

Shen looked up. This was going to be hard. "Well..." he began and slowly shifted his gaze away from her. "He did...and...unfortunately we couldn't get all the sites closed. Tho, that was a year ago I think. He should have ran out of material." Shen blinked. He looked down again. It was possible that the men inside IHOP had watched videos from a few years back, possibly to when Kate was still in high school. Once videos were placed on the net they could become immortal.

Kathrine looked at her hands on the wheel and gripped the wheel tighter. "Did...did he...post...videos....he used to record a lot of things...saying if I ever...disobeyed he'd post them...did he?" She asked while glancing over to Shen. "I...I've noticed some people...well staring...and thats the only thing I can think as to why" She said

Shen nodded. The air field wasn't too far and Kate needed the practice. He sat down on the passenger's side of the car and buckled up. He was ready to go when she suddenly mentioned her uncle. Shen stared at her. They'd been having such a good time...why had she brought up her uncle? "Yes.." he whispered, his eyes lowering. "We never caught him. The guy who raped you...the one who was with him...is still in jail. But, we never did find your uncle." Shen stated, his words laced with venom. Shen had never begged so hard in his life. He had pleaded for her uncle to return Kate, for him to take his frustrations out on Shen. And still, he had Kate raped. He had beat her too. "It wont happen again." Shen mumbled. His hands clutched his seat belt. "I'll kill that man if I have too.." Shen muttered, his brown pupils turning jet black as he spoke. It didn't happen often, but when pressed, every now and then the former soldier...the former killer within Shen awoke. Last time he had come out, he had nearly stabbed Kate in the eye with a dagger.

Kathrine hues lingered on the men staring at her when she heard Shen. She looked back at him. "No, it's nothing" She said with a smile and walked out with him. She asked if she could drive again, it was simple but fun. Having to focus on the road made it less important to think about why the men at the ihop were looking at her. "Shen...my uncles still loose?...Right?" She asked

Shen, who was still a bit dense, failed to notice the stares she was receiving. He did however notice the change in Kate's mood. "Everything ok?" he asked softly. They were at the door, about to leave the restaurant. "Look sharp. From here we'll be driving to a private air field where our plane is waiting. We'll need to hurry if we're going to keep our appointment. Its our first time going to couple's therapy so I dont want to be late."

"It definitely shows. I remember when you used to constantly ask me questions about what was considered normal and such" She said with a smiled as she took his hand and got up. she hugged his arm lightly and leaned her head against his shoulder. She caught a few men's glances...they looked...lustful...though she couldnt understand why...she was thousands of miles away from her home town...why would she be getting such looks from men in different states

"Thank you for noticing. You know, no one ever gives me credit for how Americanized I've become." Shen chuckled. It had taken a while, but gradually he began to blend in. When it came time to pay, Shen took out his wallet. He left their waitress a nice tip since she had been kind and thoughtful. "Shall we go?" Shen smiled as he rose to his feet. He moved around the table the table and with a charming smile, offered Kate his hand.

Kathrine smiled, and looked up at him. "You've adjusted alot to America from what I'm used to. Before you didnt know much about local stores and such, but now you seem almost like you were raised here, your much more at home" She said with a smile. "I like pancakes in general, best breakfast anyone can have

Shen couldn't help but to marvel at how happy Kate seemed. He had seen her smile before, but never like this. No, this was true happiness. The two of them were together, that had a beautiful baby girl, and everything was working out...well...with the exception of Genshen's attitude towards Kate and Ceres. Shen smiled nonetheless tho and started eating. Once he finished, he leaned back and gave his stomach a gentle pat. "Now that was good." he smiled widely. "I love IHOP's pancakes. There's nothing like them."

Kathrine smiled and lifted her glass of milk and clinked it against his drink. She started to eat. "Oh my god the pancakes melt in your mouth!" She said brightly and took another bite. She sipped her milk and nibbled on her bacon next. She seemed more than happy, maybe even more happy then when he had her staying with him when she was going to school

Shen nodded. "I trust mom." he stated with a small smile. When their food came, Shen released Kate's hands and sat back. He couldn't wait to dig into his small stack of pancakes. "Thanks." he smiled kindly. The waitress nodded. "If you guys need anything else just call." she smiled. Shen nodded. He grabbed his glass of orange juice and raised it. "Well, here's to our first day alone." he smiled softly at his...his...actually, what was Kate to him? Shen had pondered the thought a few times. She was more than a girlfriend. His lover maybe? He was sure that their therapist would ask the same thing...maybe.

Kathrine was looking off to the side when she felt his hands take hers. She looked at him and smiled, lightly squeezing his hands. "Calm down...your mother is probably the only other person aside form you I trust in the world...she'll be fine with her" Kathrine said softly

Shen nodded towards their waitress. He knew that he was being ridicules, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he needed to be close to Ceres. It felt like a shadow was looming over his family. "Um, I'll take the steak omlate please, pancakes for a side, and an orange juice." Shen smiled as he closed his menu. The waitress nodded and happily took their menus away. Once she was gone, Shen let out a deep sigh. He reached forward and gently took Kate's hands into his.

Kathrine chuckled softle. "See, you just worry too much" Kathrine said with a soft smile. "Um...can I get the stack of pancakes with a side of bacon, crispy and...a milk and water...Milk with the meal, water while I wait" She said with a smile. she looked at Shen as she closed her menu, she was pretty simple as usual when it came to ordering
