The Beginning ((Yugo,R))

Squall backed off, though stared down at her coldly. "Why would I joke? Do you have any idea how much I freaked out when Tsume told me? Do you have any idea how hard its gonna be raising a kid on the run? I'm not exactly doing back flips here." Squall spat. "Its your body. Cant you tell?" he asked, his brow raising. Now that she mentioned it, he recalled something about her being barren but the memory was fuzzy.

Lily blinked as he mentioned her being pregnant and pushed his hands away. "Stop it, your not funny" She growled, her ears going flat. "I told you before that I'm barren... I've mated many wolves since I was eleven and never became pregnant, I'm never going to have pups, so dont say such things" She growled, tears coming to her eyes. Having pups meant a lot to her... every she wolf dreamt of it...

Squall mentally connected the dots. Things weren't looking well. He sighed and finished up with her bandages. The old ones would have to be disposed as far away he could. "Tsume said.." he whispered and paused. The dragon took in a deep breath before moving in front of Lilly running his hands along her legs. "She said you're a week pregnant. She said the baby has a strong spirit so it probably wasn't harmed. So...thats why I wanted to know. I wanted to know if it could be mine because I honest dont think its possible for a wolf to give birth to a dragon's child. However...if you're telling me the truth...I think that whats inside you..is a product of the both of us." Squall replied softly and leaned in running his hands over her belly. "Its still flat tho. There's no bump or anything. Yet I do feel a certain...energy there."

"Well...now its been almost three weeks.... and of course we've mated, during my heat cycle a week after the full moon" She said and looked at him as he dared ask her his last question. "I havent mated with anyone since after my previous heat cyle since we met a month ago" She growled lightly, wincing as her body tensed. "W-why are you asking such thing, what would it have mattered if I mated with someone before becoming your mate" She questioned, still confused

"About that..." Squall whispered as he went through the slow process of changing her bandages. He really wasn't good at this stuff so he was taking his time trying to be as gentle as he could. "H-How long have we been mates?" he asked and paused for a moment after. "Have we...mated too? I think I remember one time..but its fuzzy." he told her. Once again, his gut told him that the child was his. Tsume had said that Lily was about a week or two pregnant. If they hadn't been together for long maybe that would mean he wasn't the father. "And..um..did you at any point mate with someone else?"

"Because....your my mate... weather you remember or not... it wont change the way I feel about you..." She said quietly while looking at the ground once again. She winced as he removed the bandages. Tsume had been nice enough to give her new clothing, cloth that covered her chest but exposed her shoulders and stomach, and a type of loin cloth that strapped around her waist covering the front of her legs and the back but legs the sides of her legs completely visible. It was to make tending to her easier, but she still looked good in the outfit despite the wounds she had

"So you covered for me? Why???" Squall blinked and took a knee in front of her. He reached out titling her head up so he could see her eyes. "I cant go back. I killed those dragons and they know it. Also..." he paused and grabbed the bandages he had put off to the side. He held them tightly between his hands. "I...I remember pieces...but I still have many questions." he told her and looked up. "But that can wait until you're healthy. For now, let me check your shoulder." he stated and moved around her. Just like he thought, it was time to change her bandages. He'd also make a mental note of how much she hated flying.

Lily blinked and was about to protest but they had already reached the ground. She covered her mouth and got to her hands and knees, crawling as far as she could before she threw up once again. She coughed and slowly sat up her body shaking. "S-sorry... I'm not one for...flying" She said and spat the ground. She looked down shyly, she hated his seeing her do such a repusive thing over and over... "I tell them.... if I had....you would have been attacked on sight by any dragon.... the mark I bare... the one you carved into me.... If they had learned why it was there... they would have gone after you...." She said and looked down. "You should leave me....." She whispered, her hair covering her eyes. "You... dont remember anymore..... you can still go back..." She said quietly

"M-Maybe we should get you on the ground then. Just hold it in." he told her and pulled her up. He placed his hands around her waist and together they slowly descended to the ground. Once there he turned and reached into the pack to grab some fresh bandages and some ointments. "Why dont you sit down. I'll treat your shoulder. Tsume said you wont recover fully for another day or two so I'm sure it hurts." he whispered, his eyes on the ground. "I'm...sorry. You went through all of that because of our fight..I'm responsible for your pain.."

She didnt notice they had landed until he had mentioned it. She blinked and looked around, her hues instantly looking down. She swayed slightly before leaning back against the trunk of the tree. "I-I think I'm going to be sick" She murmured while holding her stomach trying to hold the urge to throw up back. "Hn..." she winced grabbing her shoulder where her more serious of wounds still remained from when the young dragon as thrust his red hot blade clear through.

Squall flew as fast as could. He held Lily securely against his body. He didn't stop till about three hours later and decided to land down in the middle of a thick forest. He landed on the branch of a strong tree. He looked down, seeing how Lily was gripping his shirt. Did she hate flying that much? "We've landed." he whispered to her and turned sitting her down against the trunk of the tree. He made sure her body was balanced so she wouldn't fall. They were at least three or four stories high. "How are your wounds? Do you feel light headed or anything?"

Lily's hues widened seeing his wings. "W-wait" She whimpered but he was already rising high up into the sky. Her body began to tremble and She buried her face against his neck. She hated flying... she hated the feeling of nothing under her feet... Her hands gripped his shirt tightly the entire time they were up in the air but she didnt make a sound or word of complaint

"I'm taking you away from here." Squall whispered. He turned to Tsume bowing his head too. He walked out to the entrance of the cave and extended a pair of dark wings from his back. With a single flap his body was propelled high into the clouds. He looked over his should towards the ground just in time to see a bright plume of flame rise from the ground followed by several more. The dragons were going to wipe the village from the face of the map. Squall turned his head away. He could only hope that Tsume had gotten out in time. He held Lily tight against his chest and flew higher. He'd need to mask his presence the best her could and right now the best way to do that was to hide above the cloud line.

Lily lightly winced as he picked her up. She opened her eyes and looked up at him confused. She still didnt have a strong voice. "W-where...are we going" She whispered, her right ear perked while her left remained limp. "I have to go back and try and clear out as many of my kind as I can" Tsume said and smiled softly. "Dont worry about me, I'll make it out" She said and smiled at Lily. "I wish you luck" she said. Lily had not been told that she was pregnant... she had been asleep when ever it was talked about. Lily looked at Tsume and lightly bowed her head in thanks

Squall was feeling tense. The skies were clear but he knew that there were dragons out there. He could smell. Surely, they could smell him too. That was probably the only reason they hadn't attacked yet. "We're out of time." Squall stated and came back in. "I'll just have to carry her in my arms." he stated taking the pack she had put together for him. He nodded understanding her instructions and moved to gently raise Lily's body. "You should get your brother and run. Dont go back to the village. Get as far away as you can. When they find the dragons I killed everything within the area will be burned down. That I promise you."

"I will do whatever I can" She said with a bow of her head and looked to Lily, not leaving her side very much just as she had done with Squall. She continued to use ointments to treat her wounds, by the second day she greatly aproved of the state of Lily's body. "I suppose wolves heal faster then dragons... or at least she is healing faster then you... I'm shocked she's woken up a few times" Tsume said while packing a small back. "Okay, these are the ointments and herbs you need to continue using on her, which will probably only be another day or so. By then she should also be regaining her physical strength as well, but for now continue feeding her broth, which is this, just boil this plant in water then feed it to her" Tsume intructed, slowly going over everthing he was going to have to do. "Are you sure you cant stay one more day? She cant even walk yet" Tsume said

"three days maybe too long. Someone will come looking for the two I killed." he told her and followed her inside. "IT comes in pieces. Not everything is there...but...maybe that will change once I get a chance to talk to her again." he stated and moved to sit down by the fire. Every now and then, his gaze would shift back over to Lily. He couldn't help but to wonder if the baby was his or not. His gut told him that it was...but his mind didn't want to believe it. "I'll try to give you the three days. Until then..do everything you can." he instructed, his gaze no fixed on the flickering flames.

"I'm afraid I can't go with you if you decide to move, however I implore you to wait at least three days until her wounds heal, I dont want to risk an infection by letting her cuts and gashes contract something, we mut wait for her flesh wounds to be completely gone" She said. "Have you been able to remember.... anything at all?" She asked while walking toward the cave and examined Lily. "Her breathing had regualted... thats good" She said and ran her had against Lily's stomach. "A strong spirit....the baby wasnt hurt at all despite what her body went through" She said

"I see." Squall replied softly and released her hand. He turned slightly, his head tilting up to the sky. "Well thats good then I suppose." he sighed now running a hand through his wavy brown hair. "I killed two of my own. Lily and I cant stay here for a week. I'll have to move her. We seem to have a link...even though I dont remember it. I suppose I owe it to her to find out everything."

Tsume blinked as he grabbed her hand and looked at him. "It felt no different from when I fed you by mouth... Squall, your a dragon, I'm a fox. Such things between us are unnatural....a taboo" She said simply. "I'm sorry, but I have no feeling for you in such a way. I am friends with a few different species, but that is all, just a friend. I apologize if I came off in such a way to make you think I had feelings for you" She said

"Thanks..." Squall mumbled taking the blanket. Honestly, he couldn't understand why she seemed to be so happy or so sure that Lily would heal. As she patted his shoulder, he turned lightly grabbing her hand. He was confused...and he needed a few things cleared up. "Did you feel nothing when I kissed you?" he asked softly. The flame from the fire inside the cave flickered back and forth within his eyes. "Do you feel nothing for me?"

Tsume came walking up the path with another blanket, her ears perked seeing Squall. "Did she take the soup well?" she asked as she walked up and stopped in front of him, her ears perked. "Here, I brought another blanket for you" She said handing it to him. "Dont worry, her body will heal in a weeks time just like yours did." She said softly and lightly patted his shoulder. "You should try to get some rest too, you had a very long day" She said

Squall couldn't believe his eyes. She was smiling..and so brightly too. The sight of it made his heart skip a few beats. Maybe..just maybe they did have some sort of connection. As she began to speak he moved his ear closer to her lips again so he could hear her better. Her breathing had gotten better but it looked like she still had a hard time talking. "Love...wait...Love? Was that it?" he asked blinking, wondering if she was trying to tell him how she felt. He watched as she passed out and grabbed a nearby blanket to cover her body. He was about to get up, but looking noticing how she was holding onto his shirt. He moved her hand and gently placed it at her side before getting up and stepping outside for some fresh air.

Lily's eyes closed as he leaned in to kiss her. She couldnt return his passionate kisses at the moment but when he broke it the softest and happiest of smiles spread over her lips. "......L...o....ve..." She whispered softly before her body went limp and she fell asleep. Her breathing was some what normal now compared to her shallow breaths before. Her hand was lightly holding his shirt...

"Hey just relax. Dont move too much." squall stated, yet she continued to fight. He leaned in close placing his ear to her lips so he could hear better. His brown eyes widened slightly. "Kiss?" he asked, to make sure he had heard right. "Umm...ok." he whispered, his face flushing a little. What was the harm? Besides, everytime he kissed her flashing raced through his mind. Maybe that was the key. Gently, he cupped her cheeks and lowered his lips back down to hers. He kissed her softly at first. Suddenly, a major flashed ran through his head. He could see Lily..and she was laying down in what looked like a cave. Squall wasn't sure but it looked like she was nude too. On her lips had to be the brightest smile he had ever seen. Squall could see himself crawling over to her, kissing her passionately. The image made him deepen the kiss against her lips before he had to pull back. He was panting slightly. All of this was going way too fast for him.
