Fire & Ice II: Age of Rebirth(private/mature/continued)

Soara sighed "didnt think so..." she muttered. S the doctr fnished up she waked over helping Jann to his feet. Wrapping one of his arms around her neck to help him balance. "As much as i would like that its not gonna happen." She replied. Starting upstairs she found a guest room that as only a couple rooms down from her own. Helping him onto the bed she flopped down next to him. "This sucks a lot..."

"No can do. Your father would have a heart attack if he found out I gave you permission to run after an armed thief. No...I'll have some more guards look around the area. With any luck we'll be able to find something." Nagi replied softly. When the doctor was done bandaging Jann's wound, he turned to Soara and Nagi. "He'll be fine. He's a young wolf. I'm sure his wound will heal by morning. Right now its best that he lay down." the doctor ordered. "You mean here?" Nagi blinked. The doctor nodded. Sighing softly, Nagi nodded as well. "Soara, do you think you can show Jann into one of our guest rooms? He can sleep there for the night I suppose." she stated. "I'd rather sleep in Soara's room." Jann smiled and let out a pained chuckle. "Dont push your luck." Nagi snapped and pressed the very tip of her one of her claws into Jann's nose. "Regardless of how it was done, YOU lost something that belongs to this palace. Now isn't the time for jokes."

Soara spotted Nagi and sghed in relif. Heaving Jann ont he couch she turned to her aunt. "Yes in the middle of the city someone clearly wants that book for something andi dont think its good..." she replied. At th mention of her faher she frowned "i was moe worried about Jann at the time. She staed. Taking the clothe she lightly dabbed around the wound to clear away some of the blood. Alloing te doctor to see how bd it was. "Well id go for the book but im not allowed out without guards or permission. So if you give me permission to go out alone i'd be more than hppy to."

When they got back to the palace, Nagi was waiting them. It was late and she wanted to get to Soara before Yugo did. When she saw her niece, she waddled up to her, though paused after seeing Jann's wound. "What the hell?" Nagi blinked. "Got ambushed." Jann mumbled. The guard who was holding him up placed Jann down onto a small chair. "You mean in the middle of the city??" Nagi blinked again. The guard nodded. "He was attacked by a thief Nagi-sama. I'm getting ready to go back out and help search." he stated. Nagi nodded and ordered to guard to move Jann onto a couch in the living room before heading off. Once that was done she called the doctor to take a look at his wound. From what she could tell though, Jann would be fine. She had seen many injures in her life and his didn't look that bad. "Does it hurt?" she asked as she brought a wet cloth and a small bowl of water over to Soara. "A little..." Jann whispered, his eyes half shut. Nagi let out a small sigh and crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm guessing what was stolen was the book right? Soara...you'd had better get it back before your dad finds out..."

Soara looked at the guard. Noding at his statement. When he oher guard returned she stared at him. "Jann no...i care more about you being safe than getting in trouble. "You help me carry him back and you search for the thief and we'll sed back up when we get to the castle." She stated as she began to lift Jann.

The guard who had covered Soara rushed over to Jann's side. He examined the stab wound and stood to his feet. "It doesn't look too deep. We should take him back to the palace just to be safe." he advised. When the other guard got back, he bent over panting hard. It looked like he hadn't been able to catch the one who had stabbed Jann and stolen the book. "No...I'm fine...Soara, send them to get the book back. I dont want...*cough*..you to get in trouble." Jann whispered and began to cough hard which caused his bleeding to increase.

Soara smiled returning the kiss. Starting back toards th school she spotted the man as he stabbed Jann. Soara was flung to the grund by the guard. Once he stood she ran to Jann. Bending down next to him she staed at theblood in horror. "Jann! Are you okay!? Guards help him no!" He screamed.

ic: "Fair enough." Jann whispered softly. He smiled and leaned in to place a soft kiss on Soara's lips. Suddenly, one of the guards moved inbetween them pushing Jann back. "Thats enough. Its late and princess shouldn't be out this late." he frowned. Jann let out a soft chuckle and nodded. As he turned however, a masked man came running into Jann piercing his side with a blade! "Princess get down!" One of the guards yelled as moved to 'cover' Soara with his body. The other took off after the masked man. Jann was on his knees. Blood tricked out from between his fingers as he attempted to keep his hand over his wound. A small pool of blood had already formed around his body. "Damn...that wasn't part of the plan..." he hissed mentally. To make matters worse, his satchel that contained the book was gone...

Soara looked at him as he took her hands sh grpped his. "Im not like Ama okay? I dont think youre a dog or anything...i just im nervous after te elder visit and stuff...and yes i trust you but as a princess its my job to protect books in the royal library." She explined.

Finally, Jann stopped and turned to Soara. On the inside he was surprised. He never expected to hear Soara apologize. If the tables had been turned he would have never apologized for following his gut instincts. The young wolf let out a small sigh as he closed his eyes and scratched the back of his head. "Soara...all day I hear your damn cousin cussing me out, telling me what a dog I am, how I lie, how I'll hurt you, how she knows the real me..." he began and made a move to take hold of her hands, but stopped when both the guards prepared to draw their blades. Jann let out a deeper sigh now. He had the book...why was he still trying to talk to Soara? With a small frown on his lips, Jann took hold of Soara's hands even if the guards seemed ready to attack him. "Thats all I hear all day when I'm at school. I dont need you...the one I care for the most...giving me the shit when I've already explained myself over and over. It hurts you know? I mean...I honestly thought that you were nothing like Ama..." Jann whispered softly. He gripped her hands tightly as he gazed down at her. "I do forgive you though. Just...no more ok?"

Soara glared at him "Seriously this is annoying..." she growled. Once the gates opened she ran to catch up to Jann. "Jann please talk to me! I'm sorry okay?" she asked. She hadn't meant to hurt him and now she was upset that she had. "Please forgive me?" she begged as they approached the school

"I'm sorry princess...but if anything happened to you it would be my head on a spike." The captain stated. He honestly didn't care if Soara liked it or not, he had to do his job. Jann, who had gotten tired of waiting, had already started walking. Once the men who would escort Soara were chosen, the captain had the gates opened. The trip to the Academy was a quiet one. Jann seemed to have nothing to say. He wasn't in a rush, but he wasn't taking his time either. The guards walked on both sides of Soara, their eyes scanning the crowd for any troublemakers.

Soara looked at him her eyes widenin at his anger. "Im sorry okay! You dont trust me either!" She snapped. Following him she froze as the guards stopped her. "Yes it is important and no i need NO escorts." She said ephasing the no. She wanted to see what Jann was up to. She was starting to believe him but still...

Jann stopped in his tracks. He looked back at Soara with cold eyes. Even after all she had said it still sounded like she didn't trust him. Then again, he couldn't really blame her. "Do whatever you want. Who am I to argue with a princess?" Jann spat and pulled his hand away. Once they got to the castle gates, they were stopped by the captain of the guards. "Princess Soara, does your father know you're going out at such a late time?" the Captain asked. Jann blinked and looked up at the sky. Sure enough, it was dark now. "Unless what you have to do is important, I have to ask that you stay here. If you really need to go though...let a few of my men escort you."

Soara looked at him "its not you i dont trust its your father. And even if i did im just worred. Thats an old forbidden book if my dad sees its missing i will be in huge trouble." She explained. As h went to leave she ran up to him taking his hand. "Jann stop i trust you i do but just let me come with you to show your teacher then we can return the book. Please?" She bgged.

"Oh really? So if I were to translate all that...I'd think it would mean that you just dont trust me right?" he asked and slowly shook his head from side to side. "You know what...I dont need this. I've been trying to get this damn project done BEFORE my class takes yours to the beach and all you've done is nag look at me with that same suspicious gaze you've had for the longest. Yeah, I do what my dad asks. That doesn't mean that I'm personally against your father. I have my own ideas, but that doesn't matter to you does it?" Jann growled lightly. He shook his head gave Soara a small wave. "You should stay here princess. The streets are dangerous. You could get hurt walking around with someone you dont trust."

Standing Soara looked at him. "No..." she replied. When he asked if her trusts issues came from earlier she growled. "No! It comes from the fact that no one knows what it says, that the eler was suspicious of you, that your father hates mineand wishes to destroy him and he controls half of what you do, and it comes from your persistence to obtain the book. Thats where it comes from."

Jann walked into the nearest office and took out a small piece of paper. He quickly wrote the note and then handed it a messenger who dashed out of the room and out of the palace. Sighing softly, Jann returned to Soara with his arms crossed over his chest. "Did you enjoy watching me?" he asked, his eyes narrowed slightly. "I get the feeling you dont trust me. What was the point of being grilled by your father if you cant even have a little faith in me?" Jann asked, his tone now filled with anger. "Wait...is this...is this because I couldn't tell you that I loved you? Is that why you're all paranoid?"

soara culd tell that her requests were starting to annoy Jann but she didnt care. Inserting the key she jumped back as it shot open. Watching Jann she followedhim to send the letter. "Fine..." she muttered. Sitting nearby to wait till he sent the letter. Of course she didnt let him out of her sight.

Jann let out a very deep sigh. Soara was going to be difficult he guessed. "Fine, whatever." He mumbled, tired of fighting about the book. As she put her key in, the magic sealing case suddenly shot open! Jann reached in and grabbed the black leather book. He didn't bother opening it though and placed into a small satchel he was carrying over his shoulder. "Alright, just let me send a letter to my teachers office that I'm coming by. That is ok with YOU right?" he asked, the sarcasm evident in his voice as he left the room.

Soara watched him insert his key. "I want to go with you then. The fact that we dont know scares me. Fo all i know its a rule book and it could destroy everthing. If someone translates it and theres a rule lets say about half breeds...or something. Thats the only way i give you the key. I go with and then we return it." She gae her conditions.

"This again?" Jann frowned, though tried to remain calm. "Soara, no one knows whats inside. As soon as I get the book the book I'll take it to my teacher for my project." he explained and placed his own key into the hole. His eyes now came to rest on Soara. Inside, he hoped that she'd just put the key in. He didn't want to resort to taking it from her.

Soara nodded ashe was surprised that it bothered her. "I dont like being told that im goingto amount to nothing..." she replid. Looking up at him he gave a small smile. "Thanks." She lightly kissed him. Then turning to the door she opened it allowing Jann to enter. However she was still holding Nagis key not sure about the book once again. "I think i should look it over first or have my dad because we dont know whats in here..."

"Is that whats bothering you??" Jann blinked. He was kinda surprised. Soara had never turned away from one of his kisses. Sighing softly, he placed his hands on her shoulders and made sure that he had her attention. "Soara, the old guy is a blind fool. Anyone can see how smart you are, how much you study, how much you train. He probably said that because he's just pissed like all the others about your dad taking a neko for a mate. Thats all. He doesn't know anything. His opinion doesn't matter in the least." Jann stated and used his hand to gently tip her chin up towards his lips. "All that matters is how I feel about you and how you feel about yourself. So dont let it get you down ok?"

Soara stared at the ground still upset over the elders words. When he took her hand she pulled away. As they entered the library she looked at him. When he went to kiss him she turned away. "No is not...he even said im going to be. Failure..."
